No Room for Dissenting Voices in Art: Kavita Lankesh

05 Oct 2019

Filmmaker Kavita Lankesh in a candid conversation with Teesta Setalvad on the challenges faced by filmmakers in India today. She talks about how most filmmakers are being put in to boxes and how the censor board is in a way curbing free thinking. She goes on to talk about how hate speech is on the rise and intolerance is spreading. Referring to the Save Aarey Campaign, her message to everyone is that if we do not prioritise saving our forests then what sort of life are we leaving behind for our children.

Stranded in Iran without essentials, Tamil fishermen’s desperate cry for help

More than 800 Tamil fishermen are trapped in Iran following the Corona virus outbreak. The fishermen have sent over 20 SOS videos, imploring the Indian government to rescue them. It has been 25 days since their plea, the Indian authorities are yet to respond. Even as their basic resources including water and food dwindle each day, the fishermen continue to survive despite all odds. Now, the families of the fishermen have also joined in the appeal to demand help from authorities, hoping someone takes notice of their cries before it is too late.
