Did whatsapp hate groups incite Delhi violence?

The violence following Kapil Mishra’s hate speech claimed almost 50 lives. Both Hindu and Muslim mobs were incited by creating WhatsApp groups designed to instill hate. The groups were used to organize mobs and target houses, shops and properties. Residents from localities were added in the groups to identify specific communities. A few older, unrelated videos were shared to inflame hate. The platform was also used to direct hired thugs coming from Uttar Pradesh. Over 50 mobile phones have been seized by Police from both sides Even then, WhatsApp vigilantes continue to spread fake news and engage in hate-mongering.
