We the members of Babasaheb Ambedkar National Association of Engineers (http://www.banaems.org/) express our deepest shock and anguish over the rejection of the anticipatory bail application of one of the founders and ex-president of our Association, Dr Anand Teltumbde. We were shocked right from the day his name was linked by the Police in what by now clearly appears as the concocted case of Elgar Parishad. We, however, hoped that he would get justice through courts.
Dr Teltumbde is one the best educated persons and widely respected intellectual in the country. Having come from the poorest of poor family of landless labourers of Vidarbha area, he had a brilliant academic career through elite institutes of the country like VNIT, Nagpur and IIM, Ahmedabad. He had earned a doctorate in a frontier science of Cybernetics and is also awarded D Lit in recognition of his contributions to public intellectualism. He has written over 28 internationally acclaimed books and numerous book chapters, papers and articles. He has handled positions of responsibilities in state-owned IOCL and BPCL and was Managing Director of Petronet India Limited while retiring. He was invited by the prestigious IIT Kharagpur to join its faculty in Business Management where he taught for nearly six years before relocating at Goa Institute of Management where he started India’s first programme in Big Data Analytics. Does this exceptional career is of no consequence in suspecting ‘Anand’ in those clumsy letters Police claimed to have recovered from someone’s computers to be him? We feel judiciary should have taken cognisance of these and many other technological discrepancies that indicate that the entire case is police fabrication, before depriving of his liberty.
We know he is being targeted by the Hindutva regime at the centre to send a message to all socially conscious Ambedkarites that they should not raise any issue of their community. We are sad at the plight he is faced with at the end of his illustrious career and concerned for his health (he suffers numerous health issues), and wellbeing of his family, which is part of the family of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
We would appeal to the President of India, SC/ST Commission, National Human Rights Commission, honourable courts of this country and people at large to intervene against this mounting injustice being done to Dr Anand Teltumbde.

President
