Taking to social media Matondkar said, “Shocked at the blatant violation of code of conduct and hostile acts by BJP workers. I was constrained to lodge police complaint for my own safety and to save the dignity of my female supporters.”

According to ANI trouble began on Monday when Matondkar was campaigning near Borivli railway station and a group of BJP supporters allegedly started heckling her team. They started chanting pro-Modi slogans which the Congress workers allegedly countered with “Chowkidar chor hai”. This led to clashes between the two groups.

Matondkar told ANI, “It’s being done to create fear. It’s just beginning, it’ll take violent turn. I have asked for police protection; there’s a threat to my life, I’ve filed a complaint.”

45 year old Matondkar is all set to go up against BJP heavyweight Gopal Shetty when polls take place in the region on April 29.
