“They should be told to shut up and stop insulting our religion…. your flying horses… should i make fun of it? You arried a six-year-old child had sex with her when she was nine… flying horses…” Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Nupur Sharma is heard on a prime time debate on Times Now. She is trying to use these anti-Muslim slurs to outshout another speaker who then calls her “ill mannered woman”. The anchor Navika Kumar, does not interject to stop hate mongering from any of the speakers, but concludes the shouting match by saying if the structure in Gyanvapi mosque cannot be called a Shivling, it can not be called a fountain.  The essence of the debate was, 'since people are mocking the Hindu faith they could also mock other religions.'

Navika’s debates have fluctuated between the ridiculous on some days, and dangerously insightful on others. This time her not speaking up to correct the BJP spokesman has put her at risk. Nupur sharma has said she has been receiving dangerous threats after the clip was posted by fact checker Alt news co-founder Mohammed Zubair to highlight how many debates allow people to “speak ill about other religions” and calling out Times Now's Anchor Navika Kumar for “encouraging a rabid communal hate monger & a BJP Spokesperson to speak rubbish which can incite riots.”

Soon enough, many accounts, some reportedly fake with ‘Muslim names’ attacked the the BJP spokesperson. However, Times Now, instead of correcting its own anchor has stated that “Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair allegedly took the chunk of the video where Nupur talked about other religions referring to Islamic beliefs, and shared it on Twitter with out of context narrative calling her 'communal hatemonger.'”

Nupur Sharma  is theF National Spokesperson of the BJP and a Lawyer. She also quoted  Zubair’s tweet and accused him, to alert Delhi Police that she was “getting continuous death and beheading threats against my family and myself which are egged on by @zoo_bear because of his attempts to incite communal passions and vitiate the atmosphere by building a fake narrative.” She has not denied that it was her voice and words heard in the clip of the Times Now debate.

The police were quick to respond. https://twitter.com/DelhiPolice/status/1530202196641361920

Here is a sample of the abuse and hate that Zubair gets.

According to news reports, Nupur Sharma added that 'if something untoward were to happen to herself or her family, Mohammed Zubair will be solely responsible for it.'

"I’m being bombarded with rape, death and beheading threats against my sister, mother, father & myself. I’ve communicated same to @DelhiPolice. If anything untoward happens to me or any of my family members @CPDelhi please note wholly & solely @zoo_bear is responsible who instead of ‘fact-checking’ peddled a fake-narrative to vitiate the atmosphere, cause communal disharmony & cause communal & targeted hatred against me & my family."
