In light of the recent violent clashes between the supporting and protesting the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar Azad has written to New Delhi Lieutenant General Anil Baijal expressing concern over the safety of the people belonging to the minorities and the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes.
Writing about the communal abuses hurled against the women and other protestors in Delhi by political leaders of the ruling party, he said that he was requesting permission to visit the hospitals, homes, shops and Mazar at Bhajanpura which had been subjected to arson and alleged murderous attacks by RSS goons and that the LG provide adequate security to him and legal advisor of the Bhim Army Mr. Mehmood Pracha during the visit.
In his letter he wrote, “I am extremely concerned for the safety and security of people belonging to Muslim and Scheduled Caste community in many parts of North East Delhi and wish to visit the areas affected by violence. You are requested to kindly direct Delhi Police to provide adequate security for the visit. I would be grateful if you could direct concerned police officials to inform me time and date preferably tomorrow (Tuesday) itself when I can undertake the visit.”
Azad also mentioned BJP leader Kapil Mishra in his letter who he alleged made a murderous assault on the peaceful protestors and local residents. He said, “From February 23, 2020, one Mr. Kapil Mishra, leader of RSS, in full protection of police including the local DCP (numerous videos available in social media) made a murderous assault on the peaceful protestors and local residents armed with guns, trishuls, swords and other weapons. All of them were abusing Scheduled Caste and Muslim coomunities and even Baba Saheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. Complaints in this regard have been made to the police but no action has been taken till now by the police. After the initial assault of Mr. Kapil Mishra hordes of RSS cadres / goons with full support of the police personnel present in North East Delhi are regularly assaulting, throwing bombs, shooting, stabbing not only protestors but also the public and houses belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Muslim community.”
Raising concerns about police inaction in the matter who did not mete out the same treatment to perpetrators from the right wing as they did to peaceful protestors. He tweeted saying that the BJP leaders along with the police were responsible for what happened in Delhi.

He also requested the Supreme Court (SC) to take cognizance of the matter so that the values of the Constitution and the lives of the people could be saved. He has made a fresh application in the SC over the violence in Delhi that started on Sunday, February 23 in which he has named Kapil Mishra and requested for the security of women protestors in Delhi. The court has agreed to hear his petition.
@BhimArmyChief asks #SupremeCourt to consider his plea for registration of FIR and subsequent action by @DelhiPolice in violence in Delhi.
SC agrees to list it along with the matter on removal of Shaheen Bagh protesters coming up for hearing on Wednesday. #CAA@DeccanHerald
