Soni Sori, the renowned tribal political leader from Chhattisgarh has reportedly met with an accident on November 10. She, reportedly, fell off from a two wheeler while riding on it and has suffered injuries. How serious these injuries are and what the prognosis of the doctors is, has not yet been confirmed.
Soni Sori, winner of the 2018 Front Line Defenders Award for Human Rights Defenders at Risk for the Asia region, has been falsely accused as being a conduit for maoists in the past and has been acquitted of most of the cases against her. Member of Aam Aadmi Party, Sori has led a continuous struggle of Adivasis or the indigenous tribals in Chhattisgarh against the oppression of government authorities.
Her son, Deependra confirmed to SabrangIndia late last night that they had reached Jagdalpur Hospital and that she was being treated by the doctors there. Before conducting any further investigations, the doctors are running a Covid test on her as per protocol and her condition has been reported to be stable for now. The extent of the injuries and the impact of the same is yet to be ascertained. Updates are awaited.
