To plan the details of March 26, 2021 Bharat Bandh, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has invited trade unions, transporter associations, retailer associations and other mass organisations to national and state and district-level meetings on March 17 afternoon.
While elections states will not observe the Bandh, representatives of trade unions and organisations were invited to the Kundli border on Wednesday afternoon.
“The SKM plans to organise a total bandh to mark completion of four months of our ongoing protest. We seek your full cooperation and solidarity to make the day a success. For planning this better, we are organising a meeting at Kajaria Tiles Showroom in Sonepat district, Haryana (at the Singhu Border protest site),” said the SKM in an invitation letter to trade organisations.
The letter is addressed to various trade unions in organised and unorganised sectors, transporters’ associations, retailers’ and hawkers’ associations, railway and road transport services’ employees’ associations, and other progressive mass organisations.
On March 15, farmers and workers are to observe “Anti-Privatisation Day” and hold demonstrations near railway stations to protest “anti-people” policies of the central government. Farmers continue to oppose the three central farm Acts – the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance & Farm Services Act, the Farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act – and demand Minimum Support Price (MSP) as a legal right for all farmers. The historic struggle at various Delhi borders will complete four months on March 26.
