Muslim man beaten on board a train in UP, booked for sexual harassment

After Asim Hussain was beaten up by two men on board a train, Hussain has ben arrested on charges of sexual harassment by the UP Police. On January 14, a video had surfaced where Asim, a scrap dealer, travelling on Padmavat Express was brutally assaulted in the train.

Asim said, “they were shouting ‘This Mullah is a thief’, they took off my shirt & beat me with a belt, pulled my beard, asked me to chant Jai Shree Ram”. He said that some men got on the train at Hapur station. Someone, after looking at Asim said “this mulla is a thief. All mullas are thief” Mulla is used as a derogatory term used to refer to Muslim men.

Asim said that suddenly they started beating him and removed his clothes and beat him more. He said that they even took all the money he had on him.

The Railway Police arrested two accused Suraj and Satish.

 

 

Asim said that there was no other reason that served as a provocation to assault him and they just kept saying “Mullas are thieves”.

 

 

Reportedly, Asim has now been arrested in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh on charges of sexual harassment. No more details regarding this case are available.
