We won’t show you our papers: Voices of Bengali Artists against NPR-NRC, CAA

NRC

‘The rulers might come and go
Exploiters would also come and go,
We won’t show you our papers.
You strike us with water cannons and tear gas
With love and rebellion in our hearts, we are not going to look back
We will not show you our papers.
This country is mine, this country is ours
the one who is ‘Bismil’, the one who is ‘Ramprasad’
You cannot survive by splitting people across religious lines,
We won’t show you our papers.
You shut down the internet,
your police assault us with sticks,
still our slogans won’t stop
We won’t show you our papers.
Neither temples nor mosques,
we want freedom across country.

We will not show you our papers.’

These are a couple of lines recited in unison, in a video, by eminent artists from West Bengal. The video, that voices dissent against the unconstitutional Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and nationwide NPR-NRC, went viral on social media.
