Woman set ablaze by man who had raped her two years ago

The man, was accused of rape by the victim and arrested once, but out on bail he retured and set her ablaze

Another horrific crime has been reported from Rajasthan, where a rape accused set his victm ablaze, in the Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan. The accused was out on bail, and according to a report in India Today, the man had allegedly raped the woman two years ago. The victim is stated to have sustained 90 per cent burn injuries and was rushed to a government hospital in Bikaner.

The accused has been identified as Pradeep Bishnoi, who has been arrested based on a complaint by the victim's grandmother. According to the news report, the victim, who runs a beauty parlour, was living away from her husband, and stayed with her grandmother. The victim's grandmother lodged a complaint against Pradeep Bishnoi after he doused the victim with kerosene and set her afire. The incident was recorded in a CCTV camera installed outside their home and beauty parlour.

The victim’s grandmother reportedly told the police that Pradeep entered her house and locked the room where her son was sleeping. The man then called out to the woman, who he had been accused of raping two years ago. As soon as she stepped out of her room, he poured kerosene on her and set her on fire.

The victim had filed a complaint against Pradeep for raping her two years ago, leading to his arrest. Now, the 30-year-old woman is battling for life, reported Zee5. According to the police the accused, after he set the victim ablaze, had fled the scene on a motorcycle. However, Police identified him thanks to the CCTV footage and arrested him. It was reported that CCTV footage showed the accused fleeing after setting the woman on fire. The Hindustan Times quoted Praful Kumar, Inspector General of Police, Bikaner range, saying that the accused Pradeep Bishnoi was being interrogated and the case was being “closely investigated from every angle.” The victim is being treated at a hospital in Bikaner.
