Mohammad Nazir Ahmed, 66, a former Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) official and resident of HSR Layout, along with his wife Naida Khanum and three sons arrived at the farmhouse at around 12.30 am. One son- Mohammad Fateh Ahmed, 24, a student in Australia, had flown in to celebrate Bakrid with his family.
Even as the Ahmedabad police is under attack for its failure to save Mohammad Ayub’s life –he was beaten to death by Cow Vigilantes and succumbed to his injuries on September 16 the Bengaluru rural police saved a Muslim family from getting lynched by activists who gathered at the family's farm house in Begehalli village, Anekal taluk on Wednesday afternoon. The attack was engineered after a family in the neighbourhood "informed" the Cow Vigilantes. The family was committing no offence as the animals being scarificed were bulls, not cows. Yet the hysteria is such in the country today under the new political dispensation, that gangs espousing violence have become emboldened into taking law into their own hands.
In what could have resulted in a Dadri-like killing in which a man belonging to the minority community was murdered by cow vigilantes in Uttar Pradesh, Bengaluru rural police saved a Muslim family from getting lynched by activists who gathered at the family's farm house in Begehalli village, Anekal taluk on the afternoon of September 14.
The family wanted to sacrifice two bulls, a day after Bakrid and distribute the meat among the poor. They were besieged by nearly a hundred vigilantes who claimed they were gaurakshaks from a Hindu outfit. “All the drama began after the family sacrificed the two bulls, until then, the so-called gaurakshaks were wandering around the farm house waiting for the sacrifice to happen,” said a family member.
It was the rural police save Muslim family from getting lynched by cow vigilantes, the Deccan Chronicle reported.
According to media reports, it was a Marwadi family residing near the farm house allegedly tipped off the vigilantes about the ‘cow-slaughter’, revealing the nexus between the violent mobs of non state actors calling themselves ‘Gau Rakshaks’ and ordinary citizens. Sensing trouble, Nazir locked his family inside the farmhouse and headed to Bannerghatta police station. “By the time I returned with a police constable, hundreds of people had already trespassed into my property, assaulted my son Fateh and vandalized the car breaking its windshield and window panes,” said Nazir.
The mob allegedly warned the family members locked inside that they would burn down the farm house. “By then, the constable alerted his higher-ups who rushed to the spot,” said Nazir adding, “I and my family members were whisked away to the station leaving my farm house at the mercy of the vigilantes, who brought a JCB, dug a pit inside the farm house and buried the two bulls that were sacrificed.”
“At the police station, a cow-slaughter case was registered though I showed them photographs of the two bulls we sacrificed. I even told the station house officer to exhume the carcasses of the bulls to examine if they were cows,” said Nazir adding he was aware of the law.
The family members were made to sit at the police station from 2.30 pm until about 11.00 pm on Wednesday as the vigilantes had gathered outside the station and were waiting for them to come out to take their photograph and hand it over to the media.
Bannerghatta police officials stated that there was large number of vigilantes at the farm house on Wednesday and in the aftermath of the Cauvery row violence, they were short-staffed. “All what we had in mind was to protect the family by bringing them to the police station,” said Murali, sub-inspector, Bannerghatta police station. Nazir is now contemplating filing a police complaint against those who assaulted his son.
Communal tension in Maharashtra town due to stone pelting near Mosque during Ganesh immersion
Umarkhed (Maharashtra): Following stone pelting near Markaz Masjid between two communities during Ganesh immersion, communal tension have erupted in the town of Umarkhed in Yavatmal district.
As many as 35 people including 12 policemen have been injured in the incident and 29 men have been detained, reports suggest. Minority community alleged one-sided action from police as the cops detained men only from the minority community.
On Thursday, September 15,at around 5 pm when people were offering afternoon prayer at Markaz Masjid, Ganesh bhakts were taking Ganesh procession and were playing DJ with high volume. Sources told TwoCirlces.net that Ganesh Bhakts did not stop playing DJ while passing through Masjid lane even though they were requested by people to turn it off and that resulted into stone pelting from both the sides.
“Windows and gate of Masjid was damaged due to stone pelting. Nearly 25 Muslims were also injured,” a source told Twocircles.net on condition of maintaining anonymity. Local media reported that considering the sensitivity Police had already decided the route to be followed by Ganesh Mandals, however, Chhava Ganesh mandal of Tambolipura took procession on the wrong route where Markaz Masjid was stationed due to which communal tension flared up in the town.
Local media reported that although police could control stone pelting in an hour, angry mob burned down four shops and six vehicles, all belonging to minority community. As a mark of protest, all Ganesh Mandals then stopped immersion and demanded arrest of minority people involved in stone pelting or they would not immerse Ganesh idols. Rajendra Nazardhane, BJP MLA from Umarkhed also raised same demand before the immersion of idols due to which police started to round up people from Minority community.
It was only on Friday, when 29 people were detained by police, that the Ganesh Mandals proceeded with immersion. People from minority community alleged that police indiscriminately detaining youth under the pressure of MLA and to please Ganesh Mandals, however, their community has suffered major losses in the stone pelting and burning of properties.
“They (police) came knocking at the doors at 3 am in the night and took away my son. He was not involved in any anti social activity but it seems out of enmity some people gave his name to police,” said a mother of one of the youth detained by police.
After the reports of random detention of minority youth reached Maulana Nadeem Siddique , Secretary, Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind (Maharashtra) called up SP of Nanded and IG of Amravati and requested them for fair investigation and not to harass innocent. “ Akhilesh Kumar (SP) has assured me that they will release innocent youths who were not involved in stone pelting. I have also requested him to not work under any pressure and arrest miscreants from other community too”, Siddque said.
It’s official. Citing official sources, the DNA newspaper reports that over 600 tribal kids have died in Maharashtra due to acute malnutrition in the past four months.
Here are some more shocking details:
In Palghar district, barely 100 kms away from Mumbai where some of the richest people in the world reside, 126 tribal kids died due to acute malnutrition between April and July this year. All of them were less than a year old.
Unless urgent remedial measures are taken, many more lives are at risk in the next few months. According to data compiled in August by officials attached to the integrated child development scheme, 457 kids have been diagnosed as ‘severely acute malnourished’ (SAM), while another 3,159 have been listed as ‘moderately acute malnourished’ (MAM).
In Mokhada taluka of Palghar district, nearly 28% of the children were found to be severely underweight during health camps.
Maharashtra’s tribal minister Vishnu Sawara who hails from the same district is also Palghar’s ‘guardian minister’. Enraged at the government’s apathy despite the large-scale deaths, adivasis boycotted the minister when he visited hamlets on Friday.
Evidently, the Maharashtra government’s much-flaunted Amrut Ahaar Yojna to tackle the problem of malnutrition among adivasis has yet to make its mark.
Nine residents of a housing society who recently blocked sale of one of the flats to a Muslim family were arrested by the police on Monday. They were later produced before a local court which ordered their release on bail.
Those arrested were among the 11 members of the Happy Jivan Housing Society in Vasai town near Mumbai who had signed a letter using the society’s letter-head objecting to the sale by one of the society members Kantaben Patel to one Vikarahmed Khan. Among them were the secretary and the treasurer of the housing society.
The 35-year-old building has nine Gujarati families in all. All occupants on the first floor, including the Patels who sold their flat to Khan, were Gujaratis.
Updated: September 18, 2016
At a meeting held yesterday, the 6-member managing committee of the Happy Jivan Society, Vasai, has decided to clear the sale of a flat to a Muslim family. The society's U-turn appears to have been prompted by the FIR filed by the police (see earlier story below). The committee members did not specify when the No-objection certificate (NOC) will be issued to the current flat owners, the Patels. Meanwhile, according to some reports, Vikar Ahmed Khan is now having second thoughts about going ahead with the purchase. "I don't want to stay in a building where the neighbours may not want to talk to me and my family," Khan told The Times of India.
On Sunday, five of the 11 members of Happy Jivan Co-operative Housing Society in Sai Nagar in Vasai town went to Manickpur police station and gave their statements. They said they did not intend to hurt anyone's religious sentiments. Police have not made any arrests yet.
Earlier story:
FIR filed against housing society members blocking sale of flat to Muslim family
Police have filed an FIR against 11 members of a housing society in Vasai town near Mumbai on Saturday for blocking the sale of a flat to a Muslim.
While incidents of Muslims being refused purchase or rent of flats in several parts of the country are nothing new, what is new is the fact of the police promptly lodging an FIR against all the 11 errant members.
The additional superintendent of police, Yogesh Kumar told the media the FIR was lodged at the Manickpur police station following a complaint by a Muslim trader Vikarahmed Khan, who had already signed an agreement and paid a token sum of Rs 1 lakh to flat owner Kantaben Patel (55).
The case has been registered against the society members who signed the letter under Sections 295 A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 298 (uttering words with deliberate intent to hurt the religious feelings of any person) of the Indian Penal Code. All 11 who signed the letter have been asked to be present at the police station on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Patels have also complained to the police and the sub-registrar of housing societies against the “high-handedness” of the other society members. Khan had "We decided to sell our flat to Khan as he offered the price we quoted. Now the society is refusing to give an NOC," said Kantaben’s son, Jignesh.
At a meeting of society members held on September 4, it was decided to disallow the sale of her flat by Kantaben to a Muslim. What’s more, they even passed a resolution to keep Muslims out of the housing society. The incident was first reported by The Times of India on Friday.
The society currently has 16 members, including two Muslim families, who have been staying in the 35-year-old building for two decades. The building has a mix of Gujaratis, Maharashtrians, north Indians, Punjabis and Muslims. Gujaratis are in a majority with nine members, including the Patels. The existing Muslim members of the society were reportedly away when the decision was taken.
The September 4 decision came after a letter signed by 11 members of the Happy Jivan Co-operative Housing Society, Vasai, to Kantaben stating: "It is learnt that you intend to sell your flat to some Muslim guy. We feel that you should not do so…" The Patels were advised to sell their flat to "any other person, preferably within our community".
Is the BJP's IT Cell a Master at Fudging Figures and Propaganda ?
Even as the Times of India in its Agra edition reported that information technology is going to be used, big time, to gloss over government failures and non-delivery to create yet another 2014-like blitz krieg around prime minister, Narendra Modi, a young man's video on You-Tube published recently already has over 45,000 views.
"I expose how the machinery of BJP IT Cell spreads fake news and propaganda using photoshops, paid twitter trends, paid Facebook pages and paid news. The twitter accounts I mentioned are influencers hired by PR companies who are paid to trend hashtags on twitter…." says Dhruv Rathee, the creator of this effort.
Published on Sep 16, 2016
This video comes even as the national media reports how in the run-up to the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, BJP's IT cell has embarked on a mission to ensure that at least 10 lakh Narendra Modi's app are downloaded. Each member of the party's 15,000-strong IT cell has been given the task of targeting 66 people and motivating them to download the app. The mission was launched on Wednesday, and camps are being organized at various places, particularly colleges, to connect youths to the Prime Minister.
In the video, Dhruv Rathee explains:
Fifty Per cent or More of the Tweets From the Paid Twitter Handles and ‘Influencers” hired by Public Relations(PR) firms are based on Fake News
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under Modi has relied on Paid twitter Trends. Each Tweet is Paid for. Public Relations (PR) Companies and ‘Influencers are Used to Influence the Social Media How can you Identify such Paid tweets and Hashtags?
Check them out carefully. Have a look at the Sample Tweets that are Paid for. For Each Tweet, the Party Pays Rs 50-70 per Tweet. Not Bad for Pocket Money for Hundreds of Unemployed Youth who have no clue the impact of Bartering Truth for Propaganda!!
One way of identifying them that all these engineered tweets are with trending hashtags and come at specific/set times!
For Example look at this
“The Red Lipstick” calls herself an Inflencer…no holds barred…
What are the Other Tools that the BJP Uses? One of the most over used tools of the BJP that is much over-used is Photoshopped Pictures and Morphed images For example to create a larger than life image of Narendra Modi Behind a Waterfall
To falsely attribute praise of Narendra Modi from personalities like Julian Assange etc [ Narendra Modi gets it wrong yet again: WikiLeaks didn't praise him] The former BJP IT Cell Chief Prodyut Bora put it very well when he quit his post, a position he held since 2004 http://indianexpress.com/article/politics/bjp-national-executive-member-quits-says-narendra-modi-damaged-democratic-tradition-amit-shah-arrogant/:
Now the madness is directed by one Amit Malviya, the BJP IT Cell Chief
The Party, apart from using false hyped up news as positive propaganda for itself, has another branch: abusive accounts, hashtags: India Against Presstitutes, Frustrated Indian and Satyameva….These social media platforms are given currency by television channels like Zee News and India TV, unashamed propagandists for the ruling regime.
Often the mainstream media can get wrongly influenced by such a concerted paid for campaign:
Example, recent news that Narendra Modi called up an IAS officer at 10 p.m. to get a highway repaired in Tripura. Zee News did it's job. Nothing short of an image building campaign, unverified. All major national news outlets flashed this, it started trending, Indian Express had published a disclaimer: This is unverified news. Senior editor with the Economic Times disproved it. Finally, when the IAS officer concerned was asked whether he had received any such call from the prime minister, he denied it. Unabashedly, shamefully even, Pushpak Chakroborty of the BJP IT cell commented, “ I really cannot….verify it.”
One way for the reader/viewer to verify news is to google it and find whether or not The Times of India, Hindu, Indian Express, Business Standard have published it. Ninety-nine per cent the news would have been verified. If it is only on Zee News and India TV, 99 per cent it is not just unverified but concocted news, a form of paid news.
False news? Morphed photos? Hate Campaigns? The Party pulls out any or each of these multiple cards depending on where it wants the public mood to go. Dangerous? Indians will only be able to assess this if they first know what this ruling dispensation is up to. Towards this end, this Video with 45,000 views in three days needs to multiply five fold. At least.
