Notorious for his anti-minority speeches, Assam’s chief minister, and BJP leader, Himanta Biswa gave a reportedly communal speech on June 22, 2024. He has claimed that the ‘minority community’ has not acknowledged BJP’s developmental efforts, and is only known to engage in communal activities in the state.

Violence, including stone pelting and arson, took place near the Eidgah at Jodhpur’s Soorsagar region. Videos from the site have emerged where local women can be seen claiming that they were dragged out of their houses and assaulted. BJP’s local MLA Devendra Joshi has also told the media that those who have assaulted these men, women and children should be charged against.

This deliberate delay plus a discrepancy in EVM votes, is likely to have affected results in another (minimum) eight seats.

Sambhal, UP: ASI has no records to prove that Shahi Jama Masjid was built after demolishing earlier structure

Belying the majoritarian hysteria and attacks on Sambhal’s Mosque and the Muslim minority living in the western UP town, the Archaeological Survey of India has told the Central Information Commission that it does not have any records indicating whether the Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal was constructed after demolishing any earlier structure or on vacant land, nor does it have documents identifying the landowner at the time of its construction. Previously, a “commission” appointed by the Sambhal district court has reportedly said in its 2024 report that symbols associated with Hinduism had been found at Sambhal’s Shahi Jama Masjid, protected by the ASI since 1920!
