In a significant move announced to the media on Monday, over four dozen Dalit Ambedkarite organisations have declared their open support to the Maha Vikas Aghadi in the state, eschewing vote division and isolating Prakash Ambedkar’s Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi. The newly formed Progressive Republican Party (PRP) has also called to other Dalit organisations to step down from independent poll battles, giving priority to the survival of the Constitution and Democracy itself.
