Even though the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi has said that the Bharatiya Janata Party at the Centre has not taken any decision of beginning the nationwide exercise of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has said that the NRC would not be implemented in Bihar, an official letter from the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Mokama Block in Patna has shown that the work of NRC has commenced in Bihar, reported firstbihar.com.
The letter sent on January 28 by the BDO contains a warning to the teachers of the schools who have refused to work on NRC related duties.
In Mokama, the principals of three schools had been issued a letter on January 18, 2020 asking them to nominate two teachers from their schools to work on the NRC process. However, the principals of Rampur Dumra, Marachi and Mor High Schools in the Mokama block did not comply with the demands and did not send the names of the teachers even after 10 days of the letter being issued.
The warning letter of the BDO says that the schools who haven’t complied with the demand, seem to have been inspired by a particular political party and that if the principals do not provide the names of the teachers within 24 hours, strict action will be taken against them.
The letter has create a furore among political circles, with the National President of the Rashtriya Lok Samta Party aiming his guns at the CM of Bihar questioning him over the developments and the accusations of the schools being influenced by the Opposition.

अब आपको तय करना है असली संघी कौन है ? pic.twitter.com/DTMteUI7nU

Post the questioning, the BDO issued a new letter on January 29 clarifying that the earlier letter contained a ‘printing mistake’ which was later rectified. Newsd reported that the BDO had confirmed sending a show-cause notice to the concerned employee by issuing a corrigendum.
