Bihar: FIR filed against DSP for minor’s rape after four years

Gaya Police said it has acted upon the instructions of the CID

In a four-year-old incident of the rape of a minor girl, Gaya Police have booked DSP Kamlakant Prasad on the instruction of CID. In 2017, the complainant in the case was the DSP’s wife who is now separated from him. 

An FIR has been lodged on May 27 against Prasad for rape under sections of IPC and also under provisions of POSCO Act and SC/ST Act after CID’s investigation found him prima facie guilty.

Gaya Women Police station in-charge Ravi Ranjana told The Indian Express, “We have registered a rape case against DSP Prasad on the instruction of CID (weaker sections). The statement of the victim and her brother were recorded.”

As per the FIR, Prasad who, in 2017, was posted in Gaya had allegedly raped the 14-year-old minor while taking her to work at his home in Patna. The girl told the DSP’s wife about the incident who then lodged a complaint. The girl, is now 18 years old and is married. The accused DSP Prasad is currently posted at the Central Selection Board of Constables in Patna.
