Union Minister of Communications and Minister of State, Railways, Manoj Sinha has threatened that anyone who points a finger at BJP workers will find himself paying for it in just “four hours”.
Addressing a ‘Kisan Panchayat Sammelan’ in Sadipur area, Sinha said, “The BJP workers are all ready to crush corruption and the money earned through criminal activities. I can assure you that if any finger is pointed at a BJP worker, in four hours that finger will not be salamat (safe).” He went on to say, “No criminal of Purvanchal is in a position to enter the boundary of Ghazipur and glower at BJP workers… If he dares to do it, his eyes will not remain safe.”
Such threats by politicians, across party lines, are not the first of their kind this election season. Earlier, BJP MLA Ramesh Katara from Fatehpura, in a rally at Dahod, had threatened the public to vote for BJP if they want jobs. Similarly, Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi, in a rally at her constituency in Sultanpur had urged the Muslims to vote for her if they expect her to give them jobs later. At another rally at Pilibhit, her son Varun Gandhi’s constituency, she said that villages would be graded for the development work depending on the votes BJP receives. Taking note of such communal remarks, the EC had banned Maneka Gandhi from campaigning for 48 hours. Sakshi Maharaj, the BJP MP from Unnao, threatened to curse people if they do not vote for him in the upcoming elections.
Sinha is contesting a re-election from the Ghazipur seat and is pitted against the BSP candidate Afzal Ansari.
