The ruling BJP has drawn serious flak after the video of the Narada sting operation, involving TMC-turned-BJP leaders Mukul Roy and Suvendu Adhikari, was allegedly removed from its official YouTube channel. In the Narada sting operation video, several TMC leaders, including Roy and Adhikari were seen accepting bribes from the representatives of a fictitious company in return for favours. These leaders are now in the “Clean BJP”!
Incidentally, Roy, a founder member of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal, had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2017 while Adhikari, who was one of the close aides of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee switched over to the BJP last week.
TMC MP Mahua Moitra was quick to respond to the development, saying one can emerge “freshly washed and spanking clean” by joining the BJP. (‘Join BJP, emerge spanking clean’)
“So @BJP allegedly removes Narada sting video from its YouTube channel. Amit Shah’s magical laundry drive continues through WB- join the BJP- emerge freshly washed & spanking clean!,” she tweeted along with the screenshot of BJP’s YouTube channel.
The supremacist party has, however, not taken down the video from its Facebook page of West Bengal unit, in which Roy can be heard directing the person to deliver the said amount to his office. Neither has it removed a post from its timeline which lists the name of political leaders who were accused in the 2016 sting operation.
The sting operation was conducted by Mathew Samuels of the Narada News portal and the video was released ahead of the 2016 West Bengal Assembly polls.
Several high-ranked police officers of West Bengal, including IPS officer SMH Mirza, then superintendent of police of Burdwan district, was also caught on camera taking bribes.
