Black Box whisked away from PM Modi’s plane in Chitradurga, Cong demands probe

After a mysterious black box was removed from PM Modi’s chopper in Chitradurga and carried away into a waiting vehicle, Congress leader Anand Sharma has filed a complaint with the Election Commission demanding a probe into the contents of the box.

Modi had addressed an election rally in Chitradurga on April 9 and shortly thereafter the official Twitter handle of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee tweeted a grainy video of a black trunk being allegedly whisked away from PM Modi’s chopper to a waiting white Innova, that Sharma alleges was not a part of the SPG motorcade.

But the Chitradurga unit of the BJP insists that there is nothing suspicious about the box and that it contained electronic equipment and party logos for use during election rallies. KS Naveen, president of the Chitradurga unit of the BJP explained to Scroll the need to carry the box in a chopper first as it contained the teleprompter, party logos and other equipment that needed to be carried in the chopper as it was required for set up 10 minutes before the PM went on stage.

Explaining the need to transport it in a vehicle that is not a part of the motorcade he said, “If the vehicle is part of the 13-vehicle convoy, then it is highly impossible to reach the stage and set it up for the PM’s speech.” He further explained, “It was entirely handled by the SPG and technical team of PMO and all the vehicles were sanitised by the district police guided by the Central Range IG.”
