Amid the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), a Muslim couple entered into wedlock in a ceremony attended by over 1,000 people at a ‘Shaheen Bagh’ pandal in Coimbatore, reported the Deccan Herald.

At the protest venue at Aathupalam, Reshma and Abdul exchanged vows under a canopy and was witnessed by protestors, who have been on a sit-in since Wednesday calling for a withdrawal of the CAA, National Population Register (NPR) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).

An Imam solemnized the marriage as the bride and groom entered the sacred bond amid slogans against the new law. They received blessings from family members and others at the venue as they held anti-CAA placards in their hands post the ritual.
