The Uppinangady police raided the Moriya prayer center at Arla near Konalu of Nellyadi on the accusation that 27 people of Shivamogga origin are called in order to convert them reported Daijiworld Media network. According to reports, at the time of the raid there were 27 people. Out of them 18 were women, eight were men and one was a six-year-old boy. When police questioned them, they said that they are from Shivamogga and some of them are alcohol addicts while others are having psychological disorders. They clarified that they saw on YouTube that health will improve through prayers which is what brought them to the prayer hall. They also said that they came at their own cost and there was no coercion involved in making them attend the prayers. In addition, they also clarified that they have not come for religious conversion but only to get cured from their disorders. Ironically, reports also stated that members of organisations affiliated to majoritarian Hindutva outfits accompanied the police during the raid.
