False narratives by the government must be questioned

Can you imagine a situation where in a ‘responsible’ number two in this government says that former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, was never arrested since August 5, 2019, when the state was locked down? The same responsible number two said that Dr. Abdullah was only arrested under the Public Security Act (PSA) when the police filed a case and, if you have good memory, then you will recall that the police booked Dr Abdullah on September 16, 2019, when the Habeas Corpus petition filed by MDMK chief,Vaiko, came up for hearing in the Supreme Court. Unfortunately, for Dr Abdullah and all those who believe in human rights and civil liberties, the constitution and the court did not come to his rescue. It was a sad day, or even a dark day, that rather than questioning the motives, delays and diversions, the court finally dismissed the petition.

The other day, a Minister was speaking at a seminar organised by Human Rights Commission (and this demonstrates how NHRC is made and who head the institution) when he said that all these notions of rights etc. are western notionsand Indians already have everything. We don’t need these ‘western’ preachings.

In the Nagpur headquarters of all the Sanghis, the leader of the Sangh gave details of Indian culture on Dussera day – that mob lynching is not a part of Indian culture and is a western import. His ‘thinktank’, who is somehow a ‘professor’ at Delhi University and who appears regularly on Indian TV shows as ‘RSS think tank’, explained what the ‘meaning’ of this speech by the RSS chief was. The problem is that every time he opens his mouth, there are too many ‘experts’ trying to ‘explain’ what he ‘meant’ or did not mean. So, speaking in contradictions is their favourite game.

Back to the issue of human rights and Indian culture. The SanghParivar has never ever raised the issue of societal violation of human rights in India. How can you appreciate a culture that actually degrades 20% of its people? How can a culture be great when each ‘caste identity’ considers itself higher than others and divides even the oppressed (who are themselves victims of the highest caste (dis)order)? How can a culture be great which does not give women equal status? How can a culture be great where superstitions are glorified as culture and justified today as ‘science’? Have you seen any civilised country where superstition is glorified as ‘culture’?

The Defence Minister was putting a ‘nimbu’(lemon) and Om on Rafael fighter planes purchased from France. Shockingly, he was doing it in the French capital, Paris. When people mocked him, there were hundreds of ‘experts’ questioning their motives. A hypothetical question arises about Trump calling Modi the Father of India. Can Trump say anything like that to any of his European partners? Can he call anyone the Father of America? His only vote-bank, the hard-core church groups, too, will throw him out for that. Similarly, just for the sake of argument or analysis, imagine, a French Rakshamantri doing the same after the development of the first Rafael. Can a French defence minister bring a priest and do a holy communion by sprinkling some water over it and suggesting that it is now baptised? What would have been the reaction?A magazine called Charlie Hebdo might show you the answer. It was attacked by the Islamic Jehadis but if the magazine were in India, the Hindu Right too would have behaved against them in a similar way. France is a secular republic and the government has no official religion in France – a historic legacy of the French Revolution. No official ceremony can have a religious connotation in France. They donot have a policy of ‘sarvdharamsambhav‘ or ‘equal respect for all religions’. In a non-globalised France, without any business interests at stake, there would have been louder comments, particularly in the media, about this, but since everything is commercial and business interest, nobody bothers about your stupidities if you are paying a hefty sum towards the growth of their economy.

Distortion and deviation are a part of the propaganda culture that emerges from the Nagpur headquarters, but now they have mastered the art of building fictitious narratives as well. It is not that there is a lack of literature exposing the brahmanical values of SanghParivar, but in this ‘open society’ and ‘technological age’, the propagandists are using money and muscle power to spread false narratives while filtering out and blocking the other content. All the social media big bosses in India are doing this, whether Facebook or Twitter. The secular, critical content is being filtered out and its reach has been contained, while the other fiery contents of the ‘nationalists’ are being put in the domain as usual. WhatsApp has reached inside your mind through these narratives, which will only tell you ‘how Gandhi committed ‘suicide’. This is not surprising. This is what they are doing and without being apologetic.

They will shout about ‘deshbhakti’ and ‘rashtrawaad‘. Those who are interested in data should, please, do one thing. Starting from the Kargilwar, or 1990, they should find out who are the people killed on our borders – their states, castes and social backgrounds. Also, from the same period, make a list of those who are involved in the biggest economic frauds of the country. Find out their states, castes backgrounds.

Compare the two lists of those sacrificing their lives on our border and those running away with our money. You will get an interesting answer and that only will be the answer to these ‘deshbhakts’. In the meantime, please do not fall in their trap as they won’t like you to discuss the bank fraud issues and failing economy. Keep up the questioning. Share ideas and never stop speaking. They also need human rights when they are in trouble, but they hate it today because they do not want anyone to question them as they want to enjoy their power and use it to strengthen their economic, social and culture hold on the rest of us, particularly India’s huge Bahujan communities.
