While delivering a memorandum to Police Inspector Shashikant Chavan of Islampur police station, Dhanaji Gurav, B. G. Patil, Digvijay Patil, Shakir Tamboli, Shahaji Patil demanded the investigation and prosecution of Vikram Pavaskar and Shiv Pratishthan Hindustan

Islampur: Several citizens and social organisations have demanded immediate criminal charges and investigation into the provocative statements by Vikram Pavaskar and the organisers of the event, Shiv Pratishthan Hindustan in Islampur on June 2. In his speech, Vikram Pavaskar has made inflammatory statements that can cause social division and spread communal hatred and create a religious rift between two sections of society. A memorandum in this regard was given to Police Inspector Shashikant Chavan.

A program was organised by Shiv Pratisthan Hindustan on the occasion of Shiva Rajabhisheka Day in Islampur on June 2. In the presence of police officers present, Vikram Pavaskar of Karad addressed the Muslim community and made a statement in a manner that would create religious tension between the two castes. In this, the language of “exterminating” the Muslim community was openly used. Threats were given to the police not to “interfere” in the work of the Prathisthan or else…”

The citizens stated in their memorandum that although this statement was made in front of hundreds of citizens and police officers, even after a gap of eight days, no case has been registered against Vikram Pavaskar and the organizers of the event. The memorandum and statement relied on recent orders of the Supreme Court, wherein the police administration has been directed to keep a close watch, videograph such events, ensure no hate speeches are given and if they are, they should be prosecuted. It is the duty of all citizens to ensure that no hate speech or violation of law or disturbance of public order takes place, they stated.

Even in the absence of a prosecutor, the Supreme Court has ordered that the police administration should immediately file a case against the concerned organizers and speakers. The directive of the Supreme Court should be implemented and cases should be registered against Vikram Pavaskar and the organizer of the event. Otherwise, an appeal will have to be taken to the Supreme Court with all the evidence, the statement said.

On this occasion Dhanaji Gurav of Shramik Mukti Dal, B. G. Patil, Com. Digvijay Patil, Shakir Tamboli, Shahaji Patil, Khanderao Jadhav, Shankar Chavan, Arun Kamble, Sachin Koli, Swarup More, Umesh Kuralpakar, Sudhir Kamble were present.
