Members claiming to be from the Bajrang Dal gathered as a mob chanting ‘Desh ke gaddaron ko, golo maro s***on ko (shoot the traitors)’ outside a Church in Matiala village, in the Dwarka area of West Delhi. Wearing saffron scarves they vandalised the church/ prayer hall structure of the independent Ankur Narula Ministry. According to sources, the attack happened during the Sunday worship conducted by the church’s pastor Gorav Arora.

Church members shared, on conditions of anonymity, that after the Dwarka church was attacked by the Bajrang Dal activists, they went to the police station to lodge a complaint, which was received.

However, they said the police told them to “wait till 6 P.M”. The Christian group then returned to the church and worshipped. However, they alleged that around 6 P.M that four Hindutva group members returned to the Church and “started abusing” the worshipers. Outside the church, the Chrisitian members say there “were many small groups standing on the road”. They were told that more “armed Bajrang Dal boys are coming” and altered the police handing over a miscreant who had entered the Church in the evening.

The Christian group alleged that while they headed to the police station for the second time some alleged Bajrang Dal members attacked their cars. While no one was hurt the car windows were broken. However, the Christian group was also informed that a counter FIR against the Church had also been filed. According to a report in The Quint, a police officer said that an “FIR has also been filed against those who were present in the church for violating DDMA guidelines” and another FIR has been filed against those accused of vandalism and for causing public nuisance.
