Showing shocking disregard for the law of the land and the election model code of conduct, Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut announced in an open rally his complete contempt for the law of the land.
“As it is we are not the kind of people who follow the law. Then we are constantly reminded about the Election Model Code of Conduct being in effect. I say, to hell with the law! We will see what to do about the Code of Conduct. If we don’t speak about how we really feel, we feel suffocated,” said Raut at a rally organised in Mira Road in Thane District near Mumbai on the occasion of Ram Navami.

Given how such a public statement. about blatant disrespect for the law and the code of conduct, can potentially encourage listeners to engage in acts of violation of the law, shouldn’t the local police and the EC immediately take cognisance of Raut’s statement and take necessary action in the matter?
