Photo Credits: Protesters also condemn the draconian amendments to Indian Forest Act, 1927 Protests erupt in different parts of the country on Monday, July 22 two days before the Supreme Court’s hearing on eviction of Adivasis and other traditional forest dwellers whose claims have been rejected under the Forest Rights Act, 2006. The protesters, forest dwelling people, Adivasis, Dalits and Other Traditional Forest Dwelling (OTFD) communities are condemning the attempts to dilute FRA, 2006 and also the draconian amendments to Indian Forest Act, 1927. The protest call has been given by the Bhumi Adhikan Andolan after a national consultation on forest rights on July 1 and July 2. “Millions of Adivasis and other traditional forest dwelling communities are facing the danger of eviction due to the Supreme Court ruling on February 13, 2019.
