On the morning of Tuesday, June 23, unidentified miscreants near Dibiyapur in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya allegedly attacked a car carrying two judges who were on their way to the district court, The Indian Express reported.
Amar Ujala reported that while the judges were on their way to the Kakor court complex, some persons in a white Bolero allegedly followed the car and pelted stones on it. While the windowpane broke, the judges escaped unhurt.
The police said that the two judges – Additional (ADJ) – I Rajesh Chaudhary and Additional District Judge (ADJ) Fast Track Court – I Ram Net lodged an FIR against unknown persons at the Dibiyapur police station. The police are also investigating the absence of a gunner who was previously assigned to one of the judges, said IE.
The Superintendent of Police (Auraiya), Suniti, told IE, “The gunner tasked with providing security to Judge Chaudhary had not informed his superiors on whether he was going on leave or not.”
Giving the details of the attack, the SP said that in their complaint, the judges mentioned that their car was attacked from the left by unidentified persons while they were on their way to court. They raised doubts that the attack could have been in relation with one of the cases they were hearing. In light of the attack, the police has now roped in two forensic teams – one from Kanpur and the other from Lucknow, to help investigate the matter.
The Royal Bulletin has reported that seeing the sensitivity of the matter, the forensic team had begun the investigation under the leadership of scientist Hakim Singh from the Forensic Science Laboratory, Lucknow. The investigation was carried out by simulating the incident with the help of the driver under the supervision of the forensic teams and police officers from the Auraiya Kotwali and Dibiyapur police station.
