“Despite efforts, 99.9 percent farmers participating in the Kisan Ganatantra Parade maintained peace,” emphasised Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) President Balbir Singh Rajewal on January 27, 2021. The farmer leader made this statement in defence of the farmers’ parade that has become mired by the untoward Red Fort incident on Republic Day.
Protesting farmers felt an urgent need to showcase the various batches of parades that were not only successful but received glowing praise from by-standing citizens. As such participants sent in various images of the farmers day parades to show the other side of the story that “godi media” refuses to convey.
On Tuesday, people came out on the street to shower flowers on the farmers’ parade to thank annadaatas for their labours.
Farmer leaders sent out volunteers to ensure a safe and orderly parade. The uniformed participants were to see that all guidelines issued by the Sanyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) were followed.
Over 2 lakh tractors and lakhs of participants attended the event. For the most part, all participants successfully followed new instructions sent out by the farmers Unions.
Farmers assert that their movement has always been peaceful and will remain so until the end.
