As the number of those infected with coronavirus continues to rise in Delhi, so does the confusion. In just over 24 hours the notifications on who will now be tested for Covid19, and if positive be treated in delhi hospitals has come full circle.  Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal has not overruled those two decisions taken by the chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. Within hours of the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal going into self-quarantine as he has fever and cough, Lt Gov Baijal has ordered that the authorities must make sure no one is denied medical treatment in the national capital, based on their residency status.

On Sunday,  the Delhi CM had ordered that Delhi hospital be reserved for Delhi residents only. The decision had been criticised by many.

Journalist Rahul Tripathi shared a pic of the signed order

The Lt Gov has also told the authorities to  strictly follow ICMR strategy and conduct  contact tracing of affected persons, especially those in containment zones. A week ago, on June 2, the Delhi government had announced changes in the criteria of testing asymptomatic direct and high-risk contacts of a confirmed case.

As reported earlier, on Sunday the CM had announced that hospitals run by the Delhi Government, as well as some private hospitals, will now only treat residents of Delhi. To prove they are residents of Delhi, citizens seeking treatment in Delhi Government hospitals will have to possess identification documents showing their Delhi residency,  such as: Passport, Aadhaar card, voter identity card, driver’s licence, bank passbook, ration card, income-tax return etc. People could also show utility bills issued in their name, family name, such as those for: water, telephone, electricity or cooking gas etc. For minors the parents’ identity documents from the list above could also be used.

Is “Another CM vs LG brewing in the national capital ?” asked NDTV journalist Arvind Gunasekhar, “  CM is the head of State Disaster Management Authority across the country except in Delhi where LG is the Chairperson of DDMA.”

Delhiites are of course just want the see-saw of changing decisions and the ensuing confusion to end, “The decision of @ArvindKejriwal to restrict treatment of Covid-19 in Delhi govt and private hospitals to residents of Delhi only was seemingly wrong and unfortunate but overturning CM decision like this by LG is also equally unfortunate. लड़ाई लंबी है एक जुटता नज़र आनी चाहिए
