Many takers for ‘Mohabbat ki Dukaan’ in Mumbai

The Congress party is celebrating Rahul Gandhi’s birthday on June 19 by setting up a shop of love across the city

To mark the birthday of Rahul Gandhi Congress has set ‘Mohabbat ki dukaan’ or “Shop of love” in various wards across Mumbai city. This is a rather refreshing turn of events when one mostly gets to hear news of one community turning against the other and targeting the other, indulging in constant hate speech and violence.

These ‘shops’ have been set up in 227 wards across Mumbai to interact with people of each ward and discuss with them the issues faced by them.

The initiative was announced by city Congress chief and Dharavi MLA Varsha Gaikwad at a rally organised to declare her as the newly elected city chief. “Our leader Rahul Gandhi walked in Bharat Jodo Yatra with a message to unite the country. We will celebrate his birthday on June 19 in every ward of Mumbai by setting up ‘Mohabbat ki Dukan.’ Our workers will hold discussions with people in these wards on people’s issues. We will understand them and we will try to solve them,” she said as reported by Indian Express.

The banner reads, “Nafrat ke bazaar me Mohabbat ki dukaan” (in a market of hate, a shop of love). The Congress workers are even offering flowers to people.

Mohabbat ki Dukaan event was organised last month in the USA when Rahul Gandhi was on a tour in the country. The event was organised in San Francisco where he interacted with the Indian diaspora during his week-long trip.
