Maulana Azharul Islam and his brother Maulana Imran were brutally attached while they were returning from Agdu village of Ratu in Jharkhand, after late night prayers (Taraweeh Namaaz) at around 10 pm, and going towards their own village Nayasaray, yesterday .This is the latest in a long line of brute incidents in the state.
Reportedly, around 20-25 people who were in a Scorpio vehicle stopped the duo near Daladali Chowk and started abusing them with caste and religious abuse, even forcing them to say “Jay Shri Ram”. When they didn’t concede to their demands, they started beating them up with Hockey sticks.
Somehow, the brother Maulana Imran escaped but they beat up Maulana Azharul so severely that he has sustained grievous wounds. He was admitted to Ranchi Hospital in a serious condition. Unconfirmed reports said that when he wasn’t been treated well in that hospital, he was then taken to another hospital.
After getting the information about the incident, the SSP has assured that the persons responsible for this attack will be prosecuted.
