Even as a divisive regime is busyperpetuating a citizenship crisis in the state of Assam, Mexico is giving it a taste of its own medicine. They have deported more than 300 Indians back to their country of origin.

In an unprecedented transatlantic mass deportation, reported by the international agency, Reuters, The InstitutoNacionalde Migración (INM) or National Institute of Migration of Mexico, in a statement on Wednesday said that 310 men and one woman of different ages left for New Delhi on a chartered 747 Boeing flight from Toluca international airport. They were accompanied by Federal Migration Agents, as well as members of the National Guard.

This decision by the Mexican government is being hailed as first of its kind, showcasing its efforts to stop the flow of illegal migrants reaching the U.S. southern border.

The deported persons did not have a condition of Regular stay in the country. Their recognition and return was worked under strict adherence to the Migration Law and its Regulations. This move comes in the wake of President Andrés Manuel LópezObrador’s strong relationship with the White House since the start of the current border crisis, in which his administration promised to clamp down on illegal immigration.

The Indian nationals were presented to the immigration authority in the states of Oaxaca, Baja California, Veracruz, Chiapas, Sonora, Mexico City, Durango and Tabasco from where they were hoping to transit to the U.S. border.

The co-operation that Mexico has extended towards the U.S. comes after the government leaders struck a deal with the Trump administration in June when they faced the threat of tariffs on their products to the U.S.

Perhaps, it is time for Indian authorities to reflect upon their own actions against fellow Indians in an Indian state.
