MLA Jignesh Mevani from Vadgam Assembly Constituency on December 18, 2020 posted an ‘MLA report card’ on his Facebook page to discuss all that his administration had achieved in the last three years of public work.
“Today, I have completed three years as the MLA of Vadgam. On this day, I want to share the details of the work done by our team with the people of my constituency and the people of the country,” said Mevani.
The report card posted in the form of a video focused on the infrastructural, healthcare and employment improvements in the region.
Mevani said that he and his team had provided ration kits to 1600 families during the coronavirus lockdown. Further, 3,000 to 3500 families including labour families who had reported no or insufficient ration supply in the last three years were provided with adequate food.
Similarly, he said that the multinational MNREGA scam in Banaskantha was done away with in his areas. Earlier in August, the MLA had alleged a huge scam was siphoning money off of actual beneficiaries in the scheme. As of Tuesday, Mevani claimed that not a single gram panchayat of the 110 presently in his constituency would report corrupt activities under MNREGA.
“We have not been able to bring it down, we were able to wipe it out,” he said.
Instead, he claimed that 7200 families had availed jobs for the MNREGA scheme. Mevani claimed that 10,000 to 12,000 families will benefit from this scheme in the next two years.
Another appeal voiced by the people in his constituency was the demand for rejuvenation of the Mukteshwar dam and Karnavat lake by connecting Narmada river to the waterbody and recharging the groundwater level of the entire region. The MLA observed multiple protests in this regard and reported that more than 25 villages received water from the Dharoi dam so far.
“We will continue to intensify our protests for Mukteshwar dam and Karnavat lake,” he said.
Other than water, 350-400 people had availed affordable housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Mevani said the number will cross 1,000 beneficiaries by 2022. Similarly, the MLA succeeded in returning the 3200 bigha land to the Dalit community that was taken away forcefully by goons. The estimated market price for this land in Gujarat is Rs. 200-250 crores.
The MLA also talked about improved public health facilities wherein medical camps, dialysis camps and psychological counselling for cancer patients was made available. Patients who went to Ahmedabad for treatment received ration kits as well.
Lastly, he also talked about various infrastructural facilities such as protection walls, construction of new roads, paver blocks, rejuvenated borewells and recharged wells as some of the initiatives taken up by his office.
