Keeping in mind the immense contribution of Hindutva brigade in the area of terrorism and their complete lack of recognition as terrorists so far, they deserve no less than 95% quota in conviction.
A dentist is called a dentist irrespective of his religion. An artist and a pianist are known by their occupations irrespective of their religious beliefs. An oncologist is an oncologist whether Hindu or Muslim or any other religion. Should religion ever come in the way of recognizing one by the name of his/her passions? It shouldn’t and it doesn’t unless one’s life calling happens to be terrorism.
The dedication, passion and effectiveness with which the saffron brigade terrifies minorities in our country is no secret. They kill, lynch, burn, rape, loot and maim. When they are not working on site, they make utmost use of technology and issue threats and abuses to people who don’t agree with their ideology. And yet at the end of the day, they have to grapple with lack of recognition. A terrorist no matter how terrifying, will not be called a terrorist unless he is also a Muslim.
Most people of this country live in denial mode. They refuse to even acknowledge the existence of Hindutva terrorism. Once I suggested it to a bunch of my foreign return friends and they started bursting like the chatai cracker we get in Diwali. ‘Relax,’ I told them, ‘if you take stress like this, you will lose your remaining hair and the progeny of Queen Victoria will not even look at you.’
Then there is NIA that treats the Hindutva terrorists as untouchables. And if by chance a wayward NIA officer does lay a hand any of them, other agencies and institutions spring into action and before the chaddis know they are relegated to a life of anonymity.
Just imagine being caught with a cache of deadly weapons and then be written off by media as a mere ‘party worker’. A Muslim, on the other hand, needs just a handful of Sutli bombs to turn NIA into Shah Rukh Khan of movie Darr. Obsessive chasing is the word if you haven’t already understood.
It is unfit for a secular and just country like India to discriminate between its citizens on the basis of religion. It is to counter such biased attitudes that the provision of reservation exists. Our honourable PM has been so busy saving Muslim women from their husbands that he has not had time to think of anyone else. Now that we have been rescued, I want to bring the issue of unrecognised terrorists to PM’s attention.
Some people think that reservations and quotas in any field should not exceed more than 10%, others say that it should not exceed 20%. But look at the numbers here for God’s sake, look at the level of discrimination and look at their contribution to the field.
