After Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal said that many people were returning to the party after witnessing the low-key performance of Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, the party workers are in full swing, making preparations for a rally at Rajasansi to be held on February 13.

The party is hopeful to see around 30,000 people participate in the rally, reported The Tribune.

Badal had spoken with Akali leaders where he said that the CM had failed to fulfill his pre-poll promises – one job opportunity to every family and the eradication of drugs. He also said that, Amarinder Singh’s government could not even ensure that criminals complete their sentence and somehow managed to flee.

SAD leader Virsa Singh Valtoha said that the party was mobilizing workers and apprising them of the failures of the Amarinder Singh-led government.

He said, “We will expose how the Congress government backtracked from all its major poll promises, including employment to all, curbing the drug menace giving smartphones and providing houses to poor. The government deliberately ignored the Atta-Dal and Shagun schemes of the previous SAD-BJP government. Names of many beneficiaries of these schemes were erased.”

Rumours were rife that MLA Amarpal Singh ‘Boney’ Ajnala, son of Dr. Ratan Singh Ajnala who formed the SAD (Taksali) with breakaway leader Ranjeet Singh Brahmpura would rejoin the SAD and the formal announcement of the same would be made at the Rajasansi rally on February 13. However, putting the rumours to rest, Amarpal confirmed that he would remain with the SAD (Taksali).

He alleged, “I could never think of quitting the SAD (Taksali) and join hands with those who had tarnished the vision and values on the basis of which the SAD was constituted.”
