Suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Hyderabad’s Goshamahal, T. Raja Singh, has delivered another hate speech against the Muslim community at Adilabad district of Telangana. In the said speech, he specified that only tilak bearing men can be his friends, and also urged Hindu women not to become friends with “burqa-wearing women”. The said speech had been delivered by Singh on June 4, and no FIR has been filed against him yet.
The speech
“Whoever has a tilak on his forehead is my brother and a Hindu. I will befriend only people who sport a tilak. And our sisters, please do not form a friendship with any burqa-wearing women. There was a time when we were under threat from Aftab, but now there is a threat from Ayesha as well. These are the Ayeshas who are introducing [Hindu] women to Aftabs.”
Referring to the plot of the controversial movie Kerala story, he further says that “the Hindu women meet one Ayesha, and that Ayesha then introduces them to others. So, we have to be wary so them too, right? What did we learn today? We learnt that we all 5000 people present here should take an oath to keep everything aside and work for the Hindutva ideology.”

Another hate speech, thriving impunity
Singh has been delivering similarly scripted and crudely worded threats against Muslims while raising the issue of “love jihad” in many districts and cities of Maharashtra, Hyderabad, Karnataka and Rajasthan. The repeat offender has been granted conditional bail by the Telangana High Court, with clear directions not to make any inflammatory comments. He however has continued to do so, overtly spreading hate and misinformation against the Muslim community on numerous occasions. It is essential to note that since bail was granted to him in August 2022, seven FIRs have been filed against him for delivering anti-minority hate speeches.
