Six deaths in Kerala as voters travel long distances, line up for hours

As per reports from Kerala, six voters have so far died during voting in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2019. All Kerala constituencies are polling today, on April 23.

First, a 65-year-old woman died in Kannnur while waiting in queue to vote. One more death was reported from Pezhumpara near Ranni where a man fainted while entering a polling booth. The third person, an 87-year-old fainted in a booth near Kalady and later died in hospital. 

A voter Balan, aged 64 years belonging to an Adivasi colony, Anjanikkunnu near Panamaram in Wayanad collapsed on his way to the polling booth. Though he was given first aid at Panamaram PHC, he was declared brought dead when he was taken to district hospital in Mananthavady.

Another voter aged 74, Prabhakaran of Peringattampallil house at Mattam Vaddaku near Maevelikkara died after collapsing at a polling booth at Kandiyoor near Maevelikkara.

Venugopala of Talipparamba collapsed while reaching home after casting his vote. He was taken to a hospital but declared dead on arrival.

Two polling officers also collapsed while on duty and have been admitted to hospital.

The state is experiencing sweltering heat as polls are underway in all 20 constituencies.
