Rubabuddin Sheikh has alleged that he was severely beaten up for his presence in a Hindu locality by the VHP leader and a gau-rakshak Bhairulal Tank along with others.

A case of attempt to murder, house trespass and rioting have been registered against Tank and 19 others in connection with the said assault.

The altercation took place on Monday at 4 pm at the house of Kundan Yadav – a tailor from the town.

Rubabuddin told The Indian Express that he had gone to Yadav’s house to greet him on Diwali, but Tank severely beat him up. He alleged that Tank even fired in the air. He claimed that his artificial leg got separated and he fell down.

Rubabuddin and his guard are reportedly undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Ujjain.

Nagda Police Station in charge Ajay Kumar Varma said no arrest has been made yet and described the incident as a fallout of a property dispute. He said the house where Yadav lives has been purchased by Tank and the latter wanted to get it vacated. According to him, Rubabuddin’s intervention in the matter resulted in a fight.

Varma said there was no evidence that Tank fired in the air, as reported by Express.
