The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government is trying to foment trouble at peaceful protest sites and seeking to forcibly vacate farmers, the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) has alleged in a press release on January 28, 2021.
The AIKS alleged that in doing so, the government has gone against the stated position of the Supreme Court as well to allow peaceful protests.
“It is clearly at the behest of its corporate cronies and exposes the extent to which Narendra Modi led dispensation will go to facilitate corporate loot. The united movement of farmers will defeat all their conspiracies and continue the struggle until the three anti-farmer Acts are repealed and MSP is made a legal right,” said the AIKS.
The organisation also said that AIKS Joint Secretary K. K. Ragesh, senior Uttar Pradesh Kisan Sabha Vice President D. P. Singh and others went to Ghazipur border where the state police was threatening to arrest leaders and forcibly vacate the front. Leaders received information that the police cut power and water supply at the protest point and on January 28 tried to forcibly vacate farmers.
“They forcibly vacated the Palwal struggle front and are moving in the direction of taking similar steps at Singhu and other struggle fronts,” they said.
However, following a speech by Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait wherein he said, “I will hang from the stage but I will not leave the stage,” hundreds of more farmers began pouring into the Ghazipur area. Farmer Unions said people from nearby areas travelled towards Ghazipur in support of Tikait.
Accordingly, AIKS General Secretary Hannan Mollah appealed to all to stand with farmers and called upon all units to expose the sinister agenda of the BJP-RSS that has unleashed repression on the farmers’ movement using police force and goons of the Sangh Parivar.
The AIKS asked people to stand in solidarity with farmers and against repression by holding torchlight procession in all villages across the country.
Moreover, regarding the Red Fort incident, farmer leaders said the culprits’ connection with the BJP has become clear based on their photos with Prime Minister Modi and BJP leaders including MPs. It also pointed out that Deep Sidhu, Amrik Mickey and others, who allegedly entered and hoisted a religious flag at Red Fort still haven’t been arrested.
“The BJP Government true to the fascist style organised agent provocateurs and anti-social elements on Republic Day and engineered vandalism at the Red Fort with connivance of the police. It is proactive in trying to arrest the leaders of the united farmers’ movement who have led an organised, peaceful tractor parade as per the agreed plan and restrained farmers from joining the troublemakers,” said the AIKS.
