“Kill, Destroy, Sack, Tell a lie; how much you want after victory nobody asks why?” is a quote famously attributed to Adolf Hitler. However, these words from the world’s most hated dictator seem to come true wherever an election is due.

When calls for genocide of Muslims were gieven at the Dharam Sansad in Haridwar, the world reacted with shock. The Hate Speech makers of Haridwar, who in the past have claimed proximity to politicians of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called for targeted violence against Muslims. These calls were condemned by all secular citizens of India, as well as the world. However there was silence from a section of Muslims themselves. These were the ones who are a part of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM).

More than a month after the hate event, the MRM is out campaigning for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the Assemby Elections. They are hoping to woo Muslims to vote for the BJP, and on Sunday, January 23, held meetings with Muslim clerics and scholars in an effort to influence Muslims to vote for the BJP as a community. However, Muslims and even the farmer community across religion have told many journalists that they are not in favour of the right-wing party. The BJP in Uttar Pradesh is already dealing with the anti-incumbency factor and is being challenged on all grounds by Samajwadi Party (SP) and others.

The remarks made at the Haridwar ‘Dharma Sansad’ were by Hindutva leaders, many of whom also have roots and followers in Uttar Pradesh. The Muslim community as well as Christians and Dalits have also continued to be communally targetted in UP. Now, in election season, the MRM team including its national convenor Md Akhtar, head of the outfit’s Madrasa cell Mazahar Khan and Uttarakhand Madarsa Board chairman Bilal Ur Rehman, are canvassing for the BJP. The MRM’s national convenor Shahid Sayeed told the media that they “had long and intense discussions with the maulana of Jama Masjid, Qazi and Muslim intellectuals like doctors, lawyers, and engineers on the problems that the members of the community are facing and their solution.”

This group of Muslims came to engage deeply the RSS on December 24, 2002, it was an Id Milan program, according to its own website, and was “the then RSS Sarsanghchalak K S Sudarshan, RSS ideologue M G Vaidya, Senior RSS functionary Indresh Kumar, Madan Das, President of All India Imam Council Maulana Jameel Iliyasi,” and others. This group of Muslims was named “Muslim Rashtriya Manch” in 2005, and it claims that it was then that “the image of RSS as diehard, communal, fundamentalist Hindu organization began to fade and Muslim intellectuals and religious leaders started coming openly in embracing RSS as their ‘true friend’ and Indresh Kumar as their messiah.”

However the right-wing groups which owe allegiance to Bajrang Dal etc have continued to attack Muslims across the country even after the investigations of the hate speeches at Dharma Sansad have begun. The MRM issued a statement more than a month after the hate event, putting on record that the Muslim community is concerned, “They felt that the kind of statements made at the Dharma Sansad was not right for any civilised society.” According to reports, Akhtar even stated that “neither the government nor the Sangh had anything to do with any ‘Dharma Sansad’,” adding that the “MRM does not support such people and it strongly condemns their remarks.”

Apart from this perfunctory statement the RSS’s Muslim wing released a ‘Nivedan Patra’ (request letter) to woo Muslim votes for the BJP in the upcoming assembly polls in five states, including Uttar Pradesh. The RSS’s Muslims claim the community is  “most secure and happy” under the BJP rule. The RSS’s Muslims are yet to condemn the vandals who claim to be from right wing ourtifts such as Hindu Jagran Manch Himachal going on rampage breaking Muslim shrines and posting anti-Muslim videos. They are also yet to condemn when Namaz is constantly disrupted by Hindutva goons in Gurgaon, Haryana. By all standards, 2021 was a year of unprecedented communal hate crimes, but the ‘condemnations’ from even right wing affiliated Muslim groups seem to be timed to be heard in election season 2022 only.

As many as 273 concerned citizens and organisations have demanded strict action against recent instances of hate speech against Muslims during the recently held Dharma Sansad. They have demanded that the perpetrators of hate be charged under various sections of the IPC including sedition.

Disconcerted by the hate speeches and call for genocide by various right-wing leaders at the event that was held in Haridwar between December 17 and 19, 2021, citizens said such behaviour violates the Indian Constitution. The Constitutional Conduct Group decried such an open proliferation of hate in a letter that was also endorsed by eminent personalities and human rights groups such as Admiral (Retd.) L.Ramdas, Dr. Ganesh Devy, Indian Cultural Forum and Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan.

“Instead of taking immediate and exemplary action against the perpetrators, public authorities have reacted in a tepid manner and are seeking to whitewash these events,” said signatories in a joint letter.

Further, 76 Supreme Court lawyers wrote to the Chief Justice of India, asking him to take suo motu cognisance of the matter and requesting him to “issue directions for taking action against the guilty persons” under various IPC sections penalising hate crime against religious groups as well as the sedition law.

While condemning the Haridwar event, the letter also denounced another event organised by the Hindu Yuva Vahini in Delhi on December 19. Similar to the former, this event also encouraged hate against minority communities.

“We request public authorities in Delhi and Uttarakhand to take action as per law,” they said in the letter showcasing how failing to do so will harm the idea of India as a constitutional democracy with fundamental rights and secularism as part of the basic structure of its Constitution. The letter compared the behaviour at these events with that of officers during Nazi Germany, saying, “The parallels with what happened in Nazi Germany are chilling: to remain silent or inactive in the face of such abominable speeches is to be complicit in crimes against humanity.”

Earlier, various naval staff, air marshalls, senior officers and people’s collectives also wrote an open letter on December 31, 2021 to raise concern about such calls for communal genocide.

After days of global outrage against the anti-Muslim hate speech at a Dharma Sansad held recently in Haridwar, the Uttarakhand police has sent notices of appearance to the accused. According to a report in the Indian Express, the summons were sent to Jitendra Narayan Tyagi aka Waseem Rizvi, and Sadhvi Annapurna aka Pooja Shakun Pandey, who have been accused of delivering hate speeches against Muslims.

Haridwar Kotwali police station SHO Rakender Singh Kathait told the media, “We have sent notices of appearance to Rizvi and Sadhvi Annapurna so far. A notice may also be sent to Dharamdas who is the third one named in the FIR lodged in this connection.”

Meanwhile, the accused have continued with their hate speech, including speaking on an India Today TV news. They were also a part of the team of right wing leaders who have now formed a ‘core committee’ and filed a police complaint against “The Quran, Maulvis of Haridwar and other unnamed Muslims” on Tuesday. A police officer happily received the complaint from those who have been accused of hate speech, amid applause and slogans of Har Har Mahadev. Narsinghanand who was the main organiser of the Haridwar hate assembly claimed, “He (police officer) is on our side.”

This police officer was identified as SHO Haridwar Kotwali, Rakendra Kathait, who reportedly went to the ashram himself, and also posed for videos and photographs.

He told the media later that a counter FIR depends on how the investigations progress, saying, “We are looking into the application submitted on behalf of the core committee formed by organisers of the event and an FIR will be lodged if necessary,” he added, “We cannot jump to conclusions on the basis of mere allegations and penalise someone. The allegations will be probed and appropriate action will be taken.”

Meanwhile, no arrests have been made against those who called for violence at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) governed Uttarakhand’s ‘Dharam Sansad” or “Religious Parliament”. The FIR has been filed by Haridwar Police, albeit under only one section of IPC i.e. 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion etc). The event was held in Haridwar between December 17-19, and so-called religious leaders delivered incendiary speeches that have the potential to incite hate and violence.

In order to ensure that a serious inquiry takes place in this matter, CJP thought it pertinent that the National Commission of Minorities (NCM) get involved and initiate its own inquiry and monitor the police investigation as well. CJP, in its complaint to the NCM, has detailed the hate speeches and calls for genocide made by the following people:

  • Swami Prabodhanand Giri, president of Uttarakhand Hindu Raksha Sena

  • Yati Narsinghanand, Head Priest Dasna Devi temple

  • Sadhvi Annapurna aka Pooja Shakun Pandey, general secretary Hindu Mahasabha

  • Swami Anandswaroop

  • Swami Sagar Sindhu Maharaj from Roorkee

  • Dharam Das Maharaj from Patna

Dharma Sansad

Around a hundred people gathered at Dadar station, Mumbai on December 29, 2021 to condemn the hate-filled speeches made by various Hindutva leaders during the Dharma Sansad in Uttarakhand.

“We will protect the nation envisioned by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi. We will voice ourselves against such hateful statements,” said one of the organising members during the protest on Wednesday afternoon.

Protesters came with various messages such as “Together Against Hate” glued to their backs and carrying placards with similar messages. People voiced dissent against the statements made by the extremist leaders during the Haridwar event.

Organisers pointed out that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was a part of such pro-Hindutva and anti-Islamic groups before he came to office. Further, this same person will now participate in the state election of one of India’s most populous states.

During the three-day Dharma Sansad, Hindu Mahasabha leader Annapurna from Mahamandleshwar said that in order to “end” Muslims, they must be killed. Dharamdas Maharaj from Bihar declared that he would have shot former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh six times (just like Godse shot Gandhi) if he had attended the Parliament session where he said minorities have the first right to India’s resources.

Anand Swaroop Maharaj threatened a war worse than the 1857 revolt if the government did not accept their demands for a Hindutva nation. He also said he would not allow Hindus and Muslims to celebrate their festivals in Uttarakhand. Infamous hate-speech spewer Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati also encouraged Hindus to carry modernised weapons, not just swords – a sentiment endorsed by another Swami Premanand Maharaj.

During the so-called “Parliament” BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyay handed over a ‘Saffron Constitution’ to Narsinghnand. In response, the latter said Hindus want people like Prabhakaran and Bhindrawale in the community. Many more such disconcerting statements were made on those days. Dadar’s protesters pointed out that UP’s Chief Minister is acting along these sentiments by encouraging extremist groups

“He was also arrested in 2007 for spreading religious hatred. This memory is enough to make us realize the seriousness of Yati Narasimhanand and his Dharma Parliament,” said organiser Makrand Desai.

He warned that the Sansad is only a glimpse of what the future holds. To address this, he and other leaders called for the Dadar protests. Instances of the demonstration can be seen below.

Human rights activists came together on December 24, 2021 and strongly condemned the hate speeches and call for a genocide during the ‘Dharma sansad’ organised by Swami Yati Narsinghanand a week ago. Reacting to the inciteful speeches made at the December 17-19 event, activists demanded immediate legal action and arrest of Narsinghanand and other accomplices Swami Prabodhanand Giri, Annapurna Maa, Dharam Das Maharaj , Anand Swarup Maharaj and all who organized this event, indulging in hate mongering.

Senior rights lawyer, Prashant Bhushan called upon civil society organisations and personalities to speak against such instances of hate speech. “The judiciary should have taken suo moto cognisance of this. Our duty is to activate action against incidents from the judiciary,” he said.

During the Dharma Sansad, Narsinghanand targeted Muslims and said that on top of an economic boycott, the right-wing community should pick up arms against them. He even promised Rs.1 crore to anyone who agreed to become a “Prabhakaran or a Bhindranwale for Muslims”. Narsinghanand gave a clarion call for Shastra Mev Jayate.

Academic activist, Syeda Hameed called the statements “repugnant” and asked all organisations to ally against such hate-mongering taking inspiration from the farmers and Shaheen Bagh protesters. “Who gave these people the right to make India a source of hate? People are worried about what is happening in India,” she said.

“We demand an immediate stop to such gatherings which are organized to vitiate the atmosphere and polarize the people of India,” added Shabnam Hashmi on Friday.

A total of six speakers at the press conference condemned the Haridwar event wherein several “Hindutva” religious leaders and Hindutva extremist organisations called upon Hindus to arm themselves and eliminate Muslims from India. During this time, Hindu Mahasabha General Secretary Sadhvi Annapurna called upon “100 soldiers who can kill 20 lakh of them [Muslims]”.

Questioning that such a statement was made openly during the BJP-led state government’s watch, Hashmi said, “It is important to tell these right-wing threats that secularism, humanity, fraternity is still alive in India. The coming elections will show this tyrannical regime, the power of democracy.”

Hameed also decried the willful manner in which the police filed a vague FIR a day after the event, naming a Wasim Rizvi, who had no connection with the event. Taking this further, Anjali Bharadwaj too demanded accountability from the police, judiciary and state administration for allowing such an event to take place. Calling the event “an assault on the Constitution”, she questioned the police spokesman statement that “We are keeping an eye, will take suitable steps.” She said that such FIRs only encouraged hate-ridden actions.

“Who asked for this Dharma Sansad? And who allowed it? Even national media channels covered the incident, so what is the police investigating? These actions close to elections must be stopped. We can no longer afford to stay silent,” she asked.

Dev Desai said that his words were shameful for the Hindu community as well. He asked people to unitedly reject the “Gujarat model” and the “clean-chit committee” that only observed such violent events rather than curbing the spread of hate.

Another speaker Gauhar Raza expressed shock that a statement alleging the murder of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was ignored by the government. Anand Swarup Maharaj threatened to wage a war “scarier” than 1857 if the government failed to create a Hindu Rashtra through violence against minorities. He spoke of barring Christians from celebrating Christmas or Muslims from celebrating their festivals in Uttarakhand because the state supposedly belongs only to Hindus.

Further, BJP spokesperson Ashwini Upadhyay in October presented a “Bhagwa Constitution” to Narsinghanand. Hindu Raksha Sena President Swami Prabodhanand Giri encouraged people to “get ready to kill,” And to all this, the speakers condemned the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh for remaining silent and even for paying his respects to Yati Maharaj.

“These people are playing our future and our next generations. If no one else, then we citizens must stand against such forces,” said Raza.

Senior activist Ram Puniyani called for communal harmony groups in India to allow people to consider whether the present regime will uphold the Constitution or allow the “Bhagwa Constitution” to be forced on them.

The group said in its press statement that the Sansad, held on the eve of elections in several states including Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, smashes the ‘Idea of India’ held by our freedom fighters. They warned that when a state remains silent while hate speech is used against citizens, it bodes ill for the people. “A Hindu Sarkar will not be difficult if this regime remains in power,” said Puniyani referring to the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Questions need to be asked of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Uttarakhand government headed by Cheif Minister Pushakr Dhami, on how a Hindutva conclave held in Haridwar between December 17 and 19, was not shut down as hate speech after hate speech made by religious leaders, right-wing activists, hardline fundamentalist speakers where several of those who spoke and were present, called for a genocide. Persistent questions need to be asked about what action has been taken by the state police against the Hindutva organisations and their leaders, who for days held the ‘Dharma Sansad’ or ‘Religious Parliament’ at Haridwar. Videos of the “event” have now gone viral. The three-day event was a platform for hate speech, that repeatedly called for violence, especially against-Muslims, a sentiment also expressed by Hindutva flag bearers including  Chief Minister Pushakr Dhami’s party colleague Ashwini Upadhyay.  Upadhyay reportedly also attended the event as did the BJP Mahila Morcha leader, Udita Tyagi.

This open patronage by BJP politicians perhaps gave confidence to the ‘Dharma Sansad’ organiser not only to allow hate speech, but rather encourage it. Media silence over the event is also telling. Once peace activists began sharing the video clips of the hate speech, independent news portals The Wire and Scroll reported on this. The following videos are full of hate, and will upset any sane citizen who believes in democratic values and uphold the Constitution.

Here are those who spewed hate against fellow citizens, and what they said:

Swami Prabodhanand Giri, president of Uttarakhand Hindu Raksha Sena: “No more delay. Be ready to kill, ready to die. Start preparations, do not delay. Like in Myanmar, politicians, government, army, police and Hindu citizens will have to, the police here, the politicians here, the army and every Hindu will have to start this ‘cleansing campaign’ to pick up weapons and we will have to conduct this cleanliness drive (safai abhiyan). There is no solution apart from this. I say this upfront, before you get distracted elsewhere.” He is reportedly said to be close to the BJP, proudly sharing his photos with Uttar Pradesh chief minister Adityanath and  former Uttarakhand CM  Tirath Singh Rawat:

Yati Narsinghanand: “No community will survive without taking up arms. They have good money power, good weapons. You need better weapons than them, forget swords, they look good only on stages. You need to update your weapons. Have more children, get better weapons. We are standing with you. Fight your own fight, save your own women and children. Speakers should not downplay the need for weapons.”

Ashwini Upadhyay of the BJP unveiled a “Hindutva” Constitution: I got a “Bhagwa Samvidhan (Saffron Constitution) in Hindi and want “Gurudev” Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati [to launch it] to come in the front, this is his fight. Come here Wasim Ji… Tyagi ji you also, take photos everyone. It is a shame that a special [edition] of this [Saffron Constitution] had to be made in Hindi. It [Constitution] should always be in Hindi.

Sadhvi Annapurna aka Pooja Shakun Pandey, general secretary Hindu Mahasabha: “Nothing is possible without weapons. If you want to eliminate their population then kill them. Be ready to kill and be ready to go to jail. Even if 100 of us are ready to kill 20 lakhs of them (Muslims), then we will be victorious, and go to jail… Like [Nathuram] Godse, I am ready to be maligned, but I will pick up arms to defend my Hindutva from every demon who is a threat to my religion. I will raise swords, to save my Hindu dharma, and rip them with my tigress like nails. If we give a call, it will not be Islamic Bharat, Hindu rashtra will be declared”

Swami Anandswaroop who in January 2021 had told Muslims to stop offering Namaz: “The decision of this Dharma Sansad would be a word of God and the government will have to listen to it. Else we will wage a war that would be more gruesome than the revolt of 1857. The street in which I live, every morning I used to spot a Mullah [slur used by right wing to refer to Muslims] with a big beard and nowadays they keep a saffron beard. This is Haridwar, Maharaj. There is no Muslim buyer here, so throw him out”.

Swami Sagar Sindhu Maharaj from Roorkee: Babur came with a cannon and we did not have any arms to combat it. I say you must keep lathis, and weapons worth at least least Rs. 1 lakh. So if anyone [Muslim] comes they should not return alive.

Dharam Das Maharaj from Patna: Half of India is  Islamic… There are 500 Pakistans in India. If I was present in the Parliament when PM Manmohan Singh said that minorities have first right over national resources, I would’ve become Nathuram [Godse’. I’d have shot him six times in the chest with a revolver inside Parliament. But I am a fakir.

Not the only Hindutva show!

At another event Suresh Chavhanke, of Sudarshan News led an ‘oath ceremony’ that threatened the very idea of India. He said, “We take an oath and make a resolution that till our last breath, we shall fight, die for and if need be, kill, to make this country a Hindu rashtra…“The lions and lionesses of Hindu Yuva Vahini taking an oath for Hindu Rashtra,” he added. According to reports social media users pointed out that Uttar Pradesh minister Rajeshwar Singh was also present at this event. The Facebook page of the Delhi unit of the Hindu Yuva Vahini Claims it “is a Hindu Nationalist youth organisation, founded by Shri Yogi Adityanath ji, intended successor of the Gorakhpur Mutt temple in Gorakhpur and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, India.”

As multiple videos of these Hindutva group members, ‘journalists’ and members of the Bharatiya Janata Party calling for anti-Muslin genicide went viral on social media on Wednesday night, the state and central government were yet to respond. A day after the meeting concluded BJP Member of Parliament Tejasvi Surya arrived and was engaging in multiple programmes in the state, last seen hosting “social media influencers who are working dedicatedly to promote the nationalist cause.”  He even did a road show with CM Dhami.

It is also pertinent to note that it will be poll season soon in Uttarakhand in 2022. Clearly a government and its affiliates plan to use the corrosive power of hate and violence to garner votes, little as they have to show in terms of either empowerment or ‘development.’

They call it ‘Dharma-Sansad’ but why should we need it when we already have the ‘Sansad’ elected by the people. But ‘Dharm Sansad’ is actually the Brahmanical monopoly over us. It is meant to maintain it because the politically elected ‘Sansad’ has given representation to diverse sections of our society. Politically elected Sansad’s discuss, debate and decide but the Dharm Sansad has no faith in discussions and debates as they only believe in dictating things.

When the matter is in the court, the decision should be made by it, but then a political party and its father organisation from Nagpur never believe so because they have nothing to showcase to the people of India. They want to change the popular narrative. For every question you ask, it looks that Jawahar Lal Nehru was responsible for everything. Perhaps, that might be right too as whatever be the weaknesses, Nehru definitely remains of the most outstanding architects of modern democratic India.

We remember our constitutional forefathers on the Constitution Day and Baba Saheb Ambedkar rightfully warned us that if the country is unable to resolve the social and cultural inequalities in the form of caste discrimination based on the birth based identities, India’s democracy will be in peril. But rather than fighting against the discrimination on a war footing, the forces of the status quo are working against it and have waged a war against the constitution.

The protestors high on Brahmanical powers are mobilising against the constitution of India and the reservation system. It seems as though the target is on the Muslims but it is actually on the Dalits and backward castes who are becoming more aware of their rights and forging ahead on the path of development shown by Babasaheb Ambedkar. The frustrated Manuvadi forces want to stop these steps and is thus playing these games. Hindutva forces want to bring the Dalit and backward people into their religious agenda so that they forget the fight for their rights and strengthen the Varna system that victimises them.)

A friend has just written that the Bible, Gita or Quran are not in danger but it is the constitution of India. Yes, it is the constitution of India which gives us the right to change even a law which otherwise our religious texts would not allow. A text in any religious book is unchangeable but the quality and speciality of the modern laws are that we know that the needs of the people change over time.

The big congregation in Ayodhya is nothing but an attempt to divert people’s attention from the ongoing elections in the state as well as to polarise the atmosphere throughout the country and prepare the grounds for the upsurge of Hindutva before the elections. As I said so many times, this government seems to be at war with its own people. it has no faith in rule of law as a majority of the lawmakers have more faith in Manuwad than the constitution of India. The question is when the matter is pending in the court, where is the need to rush to Ayodhya, a tiny city of around one hundred thousand people. Today, the city of Ayodhya and Faizabad will have a huge gathering of outsiders who want to convert the city into a war zone as they did it on December 6, 1992, when they razed the constitution of India to the ground.

Whatever be the weaknesses of the Indian state, technically, it remained a secular state which we all felt proud of. Our neighbours too were envious of us because of political freedom. But look at the irony Pakistan has consistently trying to cleanse its image by doing things which would gladden the heart of those who are concern about minority rights. The opening of Kartarpur Saheb corridor and an invitation to Indian leaders to participate in the ground-breaking ceremony of the place has given Pakistan goodwill among the Sikh community too. A few months back when Navjot Singh Sidhu attended the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Imran Khan and hugged the Pakistani General, the C grade Indian anchors targeted him for disrespecting the martyrs of India. Today, Narendra Modi is talking about people’s contact and compared the Kartarpur Saheb corridor to the fall of the Berlin Wall. But does Modi really feel that people to people contact also includes Muslims of both the sides who have been the victims of partition, a blame for which they are still being punished? What will the government of India do to increase people to people contact? Does it only mean Hindus from Pakistan and Bangladesh along with Sikhs are welcome in India but not the Muslims?

The ruling party and its motormouth leaders are trying to convert India into a Brahmanical theocracy and they have succeeded, albeit partially. It won’t stay for long as whatever exercise they may initiate to divert people’s attention, the question of participation in power, in jobs and a demand for equality will always be there.

Ayodhya’s Ram temple can’t resolve our hunger crisis. Strange thing is that Lord Rama has been separated from Sita. If you see the actual images, Rama was always seen with Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman and that made the perfect picture for many who consider him as an ideal but Hindutva forces want a macho image of Lord Rama and hence they are popularising his single image. How dangerous could that be?

If our anchors and reporters have time, I urge them to travel to Uttar Pradesh, Poorvanchal and Bundelkhand regions within the vicinity of 200 kilometres of Ayodhya and Varanasi and you can find numerous families still living in abject poverty, hunger as well as suffering caste discrimination and untouchability. Today, a huge number of people who would be congregating there may be of these communities too. Will your Dharm Sansad ever give a call against caste system and untouchability? No, they will try to justify it.

The Uttar Pradesh government will invest thousands of crores of rupees to build the statue of Lord Rama. A huge amount of land will be acquired. We don’t know how much but I am sure that the poor Dalit Bahujan communities and farmers would be targeted. For ‘nation’ building, we will ask for the ‘sacrifices’ from the rural poor while the Manuvadi’s enjoy the political limelight. We want to ask the government, whose land and from where will this land be acquired for the statue?

Yes, they want a big museum for Lord Rama. We hope the museum have Shambook too as well as other stories of how Bali was killed. It is important to explain to people as to why was he killed. BJP considers Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar as their ‘pratahsmaraniya’, the person who is revered in the morning. A museum for Lord Rama should definitely have great work of literature on him. Will the Sangh Parivar, who claims to love and respect Baba Saheb Ambedkar, put his critique- ‘Riddles of Hinduism and Riddles of Rama and Krishna’ in the museum so that people are allowed to know the other side of the story too?

We sincerely hope that the administration will uphold the rule of law today and will not allow things to go out of hand. How ironical is it that a party which rose on the anti-north Indian sentiments in Maharashtra today is raking up the issue of building up the temple of Lord Rama in Ayodhya. Channels are working overtime to make Ram Temple a national issue. Temple construction has become a national ‘sentiment’ in which Muslims have to contribute with all their might, they say. My question to all the bhakts is same. If the Muslims contribute to building the temple in Ayodhya then will the war cries end? Will they stop their insanity on building up temples everywhere? Will they stop crying against Muslims then?

It is deeply distressing how the Manuvadi forces, just to maintain their hegemony, are out and out ready to destroy our plural fabric, our constitution and our rule of law. The Supreme Court has a bigger task ahead of it now. A strong message to all must go from the Court that any violation of its order will mean contempt of the court and severe punishment and not merely a symbolic punishment of Kalyan Singh types which made him the hero of the event. We request the administration of Ayodhya and government of Uttar Pradesh to ensure confidence among the Muslims of the region who are fleeing as per reports out of fear. This is dangerous. The home minister must speak and assure the nation about this. India cannot and should not be allowed to be bullied by a religious frenzy mob. The Supremacy and sanctity of the constitution must be maintained as it is the only binding force in India. Any failure of it will only be detrimental to our unity and integrity.
