The local news media in Manvi Taluk, Raichur district of Karnataka reported on November 20 that a young boy and his kin were attacked by a mob allegedly led by one Ravi and one Alayya as they found the boy watching some objectionable video. Onlookers, while speaking to the media, however, denied the claims made by the mob. In fact, one of the men giving an account of the incident seemed scared to even name the people who were a part of the mob.

“We are simple people, we go to the fields to work and come in the evening,” said one of the villagers while speaking to the local media. While relaying the incident, one of the villagers said that Syed Ismail and Syed Musthafa were beaten up with rods and were bleeding profusely and were rushed to Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences hospital. After they were admitted, the mob went to the house of the victims and threatened them against filing a complaint with the police. The villagers demand a probe into this matter and protection for the families of the victims while stating that in Kurdi village, the Muslim are in a minority and they do not feel safe.

The Ghaziabad Police have taken action in a hate crime captured on video. Police were tagged on Twitter in a video where a Hindu man can be seen hitting a young Muslim boy for he entered Dasna Devi temple to drink water. Mohammed Zubair, co-founder of Alt news had shared the video on his twitter account and had tagged Ghaziabad police.

The video was originally posted on Instagram by an account named @hinduektasanghh and in the caption of the video, the perpetrator, Shringi Yadav was tagged. The caption of the video was rife with foul offensive language targeting the young Muslim boy and in praise of Shringi Yadav who was assaulting the boy. Yadav first asked the person shooting the video to ensure that his and the boy’s face should be clearly visible in the video, then he asks the boy his name and his father’s name (both Muslim names). Then he asks the boy why he entered the temple and the boy simply responded that he went there to drink water and he was immediately met with blows from Yadav. Yadav kept slapping him, twisted his arm and dropped him to ground and started kicking him all over and even tried to kick him in his groin but the boy managed to shield it with his free hand. The boy in a muffled voice kept pleading “paani peene aaye the uncle” (I had only come to drink water, uncle) and the man shooting the video, towards the end tried to pacify Yadav and asking him to stop.

This is not just some isolated untoward incident that was shot by an onlooker. The fact that the perpetrator Yadav made sure that his video was shot, while he hits the vulnerable boy demonstrates the brazenness of this act and the drive of hardline Hindutva propagating men to establish their hegemony over the minority Muslims.

The Instagram account @hinduektasangh also posted that a case has been registered against Yadav so now everyone should donate money to help him fight the case. “Uss video me jo sher hai unpe case hua hai ab dekhte hai yodhao ko kitne paise milte hai” (A case has been filed against the ‘lion’ in the video,now let us see how much money ‘a warrior’ can gather). The post further says, “dekhte hai ab hindu sirf video dekh ke maze lete hai yaa yodhao ko daan bhi dete hai ya nahi” (let us see if Hindus only enjoy watching such videos or will donate money for such warriors as well). 

A screenshot of this post was shared by Zubair on Twitter and he said the account was then found to have been deleted from Instagram after the video went viral.

Within about an hour, Ghaziabad police responded to Zubair’s Twitter post stating that they had arrested Shringi Nandan Yadav after taking cognisance of the said video and that proper action has been initiated against him under law.

Days after the death of a married woman in Gujarat, her mother posted an emotional video message on social media urging Muslim men to reject dowry, a practice banned in Islam.

The video of the mother’s appeal was posted briefly on the Daily News Facebook page on March 4, 2021 however, before it was taken down. In it, the elderly woman demands that Muslim boys make ‘niqah’ simple and condemn the practice of demanding dowry from the girl’s family. 

The incident deals with the death by suicide of a young woman who jumped into the Sabarmati river after allegedly facing dowry related harassment from her in-laws. A video she made of herself just before she died by suicide went viral on social media.

The young woman’s husband was arrested on March 2 for abetment to suicide. Shortly after, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi decried dowry stating that harassing a woman over the same is not a sign of manhood, reported the Times of India.

“No matter which religion you belong to, end this greed for dowry. Harassing your wife, beating her up for dowry or any financial transaction is not manhood. The family should be ashamed for forcing the girl to take the extreme step,” said Owaisi while addressing All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) cadre.

Police officer Gagan Deep Singh, who had saved a young Muslim boy from being lynched by a Hindutva mob, is facing death threats and has gone underground. His family members are also facing death threats from local RSS and BJP leaders. The reason: he defended “indecent behaviour”.

The police inspector in Ramnagar, Uttarakhand shot to fame after saving a Muslim boy from a lynch mob which attacked him for being with his Hindu girlfriend on the premises of a temple. Gagan Deep Singh is now sent on leave, say his colleagues. His seniors in the police department are not protecting them. The Senior Superintendent of Police of Nainital district says that he would like to first provide counseling to him before thinking of any action against Gagan Deep Singh, as if it was his fault.

No action has been taken against the Hindutva goons who were engaged in lynching or the BJP leaders who continue hounding his family. Instead of giving him an award for his bravery, this government wants to fix this officer who has been in service for only 7 months now. We are living in the worst times of our lives. Hope this too shall pass!

Mr Singh earned a lot of fans after the video of him saving the couple went viral on social media. The mob was alleging love jihad by the Muslim youth when the police officer intervened and saved him. In the process, he received several blows on him, too.

The local BJP politicians are also angry with the inspector. “It is not right for the Muslims to bring Hindu girls to the temple,” BJP MLA Rakesh Nainwal is quoted as saying. “They know that it is a temple and it is a pious place.” Rajkumar Thukral, another BJP MLA, is quoted as saying that it was an attempt to hurt the Hindu community’s religious feelings. He questioned the act, saying when Hindus do not go to mosques knowing it is not a place for them, why the Muslims come to the temple.

According to reports, the incident took place at the Peoplebera -1 Panchayat of Tamluk Sub division, East Medinipur. The prime accused is Jayanta Maity, the husband of the local Panchayat Pradhan Jharna Maity.

According to the FIR that was filed by the father of the boy S.K Rafik, to the Tamluk Police Station, the boy namely S.K Ismail, 11, has been missing since June 3. On that day, some residents of Gourangapur along with members of Gourangapur Sports Authority Club, namely, Avijit, Chiku, Sanu and others were chasing Ismail near the Kakgachia Madan Maity market, following which he was beaten the Haldia-Mecheda bound bus terminal. Four of his fingers were chopped off as he tried to protect himself from a blow to the head. Then he was brought to the club and was badly tortured, allegedly under the orders of Jayanta Maity. After that, the boy has been missing and his family is unsure if he is alive or dead.
 

According to Sanaullah Khan, President of All India Muslim Association, “We gave a deputation to the Superintendent of Police, East Medinipur and he sought 72 hours to take action against the culprits engaged into this case”. He also wrote in his Facebook Page that BJP workers are operating the saffronised agenda under the banner of Trinamool leadership.

When the SP was contacted, he said, “Two accused have been arrested till now. Further investigation is going on”. He also said that the true identity of the boy is not clear till now as the mother of the boy initially denied that it was her son.
 

But more worryingly, the main accused-Jayanta Maity-has still not been arrested.

The local Office-in-Charge of Tamluk Police Station, when was contacted denied to comment on this case. “investigation is going on, we can’t say anything now’, he said. The parents of the boy till now could not be contacted.
The father demanded the case to be filed under 302, 307, 308,295A, 298, 326,364 and 365 in his FIR.

A video footage of Ismail, which was confirmed by the father and Ismail’s aunt, Fatima Bibi, showed him in a room, where he was being abused and beaten up by a number of people.

Upon hearing this, residents of Kakgecha and Bhandarbera villages, Tamluk, blocked the national highway and demanded the arrests of the prime accused Jayanta Maity and the club members involved in this case along with locating the boy and ensuring his safety. The angry crowd dispersed after the local authorities ensured that they would do everything possible to locate the boy and arrest the accused.
