Jitendra Tyagi’s Dharam Sansad hate speech intended to wage war: Uttarakhand High Court

The Court said that the freedom of speech is not an absolute right and is subject to limitations contained in Article 19(2) of the Constitution

15 Mar 2022

Jitendra Tyagi’s Dharam Sansad hate speech intended to wage war

Jitendra Tyagi, once known as Waseem Rizvi, was arrested by the Uttarakhand Police in January 2022 for his hate speech at the Hindutva conclave Dharam Sansad held in December last year. Now the Uttarakhand High Court has said that the speech delivered by Rizvi-Tyagi amounted to “hate speech that intended to wage war, promoted enmity and was derogatory towards Prophet Muhammad” in the case titled Jitendra Narayan Tyagi alias Waseem Rizvi vs State of Uttarakhand.

According to a report in Bar and Bench, these observations were made by Justice Ravindra Maithani who had refused to grant bail to Rizvi-Tyagi last week. “This Court refrains to reproduce from the transcript as to what was allegedly stated by the applicant. But, undoubtedly, the transcript reveals that there are huge derogatory remarks against a particular religion; against Prophet. The Prophet has been abused; it intends to wound the religious feelings of persons belonging to a particular religion; it intends to wage war. It promotes enmity. It is a hate speech,” stated the Court order.

Tyagi, the former chairperson of Shia Waqf Board who recently converted to Hinduism, was arrested by the Uttarakhand Police in January 2022 for his inflammatory speech at Haridwar in December last year.

This comes after the Haridwar local courts had denied bail to the hate mongers in January 2022. In the same month, the Supreme Court had also issued notice in the petition seeking an SIT probe into the religious conclaves that took place in December 2021 in Haridwar and Delhi. At these conclaves, pernicious calls for genocide were made against the minority community posing a threat to communal harmony.

When Tyagi was being arrested, his spiritual and hate speech guru Yati Narsinghanand told the police officers he too was involved, and that "Tyagi is understanding the situation… He became a Hindu counting on our support."

Wasim Rizvi turned Tyagi, is the former chairman of Uttar Pradesh’s Shia Waqf Board who ‘quit’ Islam, and converted to Hinduism in December 2021. He was renamed Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi at the Dasna Devi temple in Ghaziabad, and was blessed by Yati Narsinghanand, its chief priest. Tyagi’s last act as Wasim Rizvi, was a deeply communal and Islamophobic diatribe, published as a book titled “Muhammad,” purportedly on the life of the Prophet Mohammed, one of the most revered figures in Islam. At the book launch ceremony, Rizvi was seen in the company of fellow hate offender Narsinghanand.

The Haridwar ‘Dharma Sansad’ hate conclave was Rizvi-Tyagi’s first major Hindutva event since his conversion. As Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi he walked in the spotlight there came when lawyer Ashwini Upadhyay of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled a “Hindutva” edition of the Constitution saying, “I got a "Bhagwa Samvidhan (Saffron Constitution) in Hindi and want "Gurudev" Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati [to launch it] to come in the front, this is his fight. Come here Wasim Ji… Tyagi ji you also, take photos everyone.”

As global outrage spread over the event Wasim Rizvi a.k.a Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi was then named in the First Information Report (FIR) registered by Uttarakhand Police under Section 153A IPC, (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony), registered in Kotwali Haridwar.

Last week, Justice Maithani “rejected the argument by Rizvi’s counsel that he was protected under the fundamental right to free speech” stated news reports, adding, "The Court said that the freedom of speech is not an absolute right and is subject to limitations contained in Article 19(2) of the Constitution." Justice Maithani cited Dr. BR Ambekar’s speech in constituent assembly as well as the Supreme Court judgement in Pravasi Bhali Sangathan case to elucidate the point.

The Court ordered, “Having considered the repeated nature of allegations; the kind of utterances which the applicant has allegedly made, published video message and its possible impact on the society, this Court is of the view that it is not a fit case for bail. Accordingly, the bail application is liable to be rejected.” According to B&B Senior Advocate Rakesh Thaplyal, and advocate Lalit Sharma appeared for Tyagi, the State was represented by Additional Government Advocate (AGA) Pratiroop Pandey. Advocate Pranav Singh appeared for informant Nadim Ali.

Tyagi-Rizvi in the net, what about the others?

Meanwhile Narsinghanand, was granted bail by the Haridwar SessionsCourt in a case registered against him for his alleged offensive and derogatory remarks on Muslim women. It is pertinent to note that he was in judicial custody for two cases; the first was for making calls for genocide at the Haridwar Dharam Sansad December 9, 2021, and the other is the current case. He was granted bail in the former by the Sessions court and the same judge has granted him bail in this case where he has made derogatory remarks against Muslim women and that too on similar grounds.

In March, Narsinghanand was booked by Maharashtra Police for hate speech against former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Narsinghanand had attacked President Kalam for his Muslim identity, and levied ridiculous and dangerous charges against the eminent scientest who is revered even by the right-wing ecosystem.

Uttarakhand: Will Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi nee Wasim Rizvi benefit from the FIR against him, or will he be the scapegoat?

Uttarakhand police filed an FIR against Tragi-Rizvi for speaking at the  ‘Dharma Sansad’ that became a platform for Hindutva 'leaders’ to spew anti-Muslim hate speech and call for communal violence

24 Dec 2021

Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi

At the   ‘Dharma Sansad’  which became a Hindutva ‘hate speech’ conclave at Haridwar, that has now made global news for its calls to violence against Muslims lawyer Ashwini Upadhyay of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had unveiled a “Hindutva” edition of the Constitution saying, “I got a "Bhagwa Samvidhan (Saffron Constitution) in Hindi and want "Gurudev" Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati [to launch it] to come in the front, this is his fight. Come here Wasim Ji… Tyagi ji you also, take photos everyone.”

Now Wasim Rizvi Aka  aka Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi has been named in  first information report (FIR) registered by Uttarakhand Police, he and “others” have been charged under Section 153A IPC, (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony).  The Uttarakhand Police made this announcement on its Twitter handle that it had taken “cognizance of the video that had gone viral on social media” which spread “hatred by giving provocative speeches against a particular religion”. The case was registered against Rizvi-Tyagi under Section 153A IPC in Kotwali Haridwar.

The FIR comes a day videos of Hindutva ‘leaders’ spewing anti-Muslim hate and calls for genocide, including Rizvi-Tyagis mentor Yati Narsinghanand asking Hindu youth to become “Prabhakaran” and “Bhindranwale”. According to The Hindu, Ashok Kumar, DGP, said the police had received a complaint and filed an FIR under Section 153A of the IPC (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion) related to the statements made at the recent Dharam Sansad event in Haridwar. The accused named in the FIR, was Wasim Rizvi,  a former chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Central Shia Waqf Board, who had recently “converted to Hinduism.” At the Hindutva conclave he had given a communal speech related to Ayodhya’s Babri Masjid-Ram Temple issue.

Meanwhile,  Narsinghanand had at the same meeting “offered ₹1 crore to Hindu youth for becoming like LTTE leader Prabhakaran” and later, told the YouTube channel that “ Hinduism could not be saved unless every temple had one Prabhakaran, a Bhindranwale and General Shabeg Singh, the two leaders of the Khalistan movement.” His newsly minted ‘star disciple’ Wasim Rizvi, had recently ‘quit’ Islam, and converted to Hinduism. When he was still Wasim Rizvi, he had as a part of his deeply communal and Islamophobic diatribe, published a book titled “Muhammad,” purportedly on the life of the Prophet Mohammed, one of the most revered figures in Islam. At the book launch ceremony, Rizvi was seen in the company of fellow hate offender Yati Narsinghanand, the priest of Dasna Devi temple in Ghaziabad.

Rizvi now "Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi" has earned his first FIR, this can go either way for him. He could well be now on his way as a ‘Hindutva Hero’ and make his Saffron dyed ‘career’ grow or he could be a high profile scapegoat offered so that others may escape police action. It could be a combination of both scenarios too, however the real ‘winner’ here remains the Dasna Devi temple chief priest Narsinghanand, who is yet to be arrested even though multiple complaints have been filed against him for cultivating an ecosystem of hate, with his followers feeling empowered to spew hate with impunity. As soon as he converted, Tyagi-Rizvi began his anti-Islam speeches reffering to the faith as a “terror cult” among othe things. He repeated those words at the ‘Dharma Sansad’ or ‘Religious Parliament’ too.

Yati Narsinghanand had said “No community will survive without taking up arms. They have good money power, good weapons. You need better weapons than them, forget swords, they look good only on stages. You need to update your weapons. Have more children, get better weapons. We are standing with you. Fight your own fight, save your own women and children. Speakers should not downplay the need for weapons.”

Sadhvi Annapurna aka Pooja Shakun Pandey, general secretary Hindu Mahasabha called for genocide “Be ready to kill and be ready to go to jail. Even if 100 of us are ready to kill 20 lakhs of them (Muslims), then we will be victorious, and go to jail… Like [Nathuram] Godse, I am ready to be maligned, but I will pick up arms to defend my Hindutva from every demon who is a threat to my religion. I will raise swords, to save my Hindu dharma, and rip them with my tigress like nails. If we give a call, it will not be Islamic Bharat, Hindu rashtra will be declared”

It is not yet known if they too have been named in the FIR

Wasim Rizvi converts to Hinduism, continues spewing venom against Islam

Converts at Dasna temple in Ghaziabad, and his name reportedly is "Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi"

06 Dec 2021

Wasim Rizvi

Wasim Rizvi, the former chairman of Uttar Pradesh’s Shia Waqf Board as ‘quit’ Islam, and converted to Hinduism. He will now reportedly be known as Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi.

A month ago, when he was still Wasim Rizvi, he had as a part of his deeply communal and Islamophobic diatribe, published a book titled “Muhammad,” purportedly on the life of the Prophet Mohammed, one of the most revered figures in Islam. At the book launch ceremony, Rizvi was seen in the company of fellow hate offender Yati Narsinghanand, the priest of Dasna Devi temple in Ghaziabad. Now Rizvi has become "Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi" at the Dasna temple, and reportedly has been blessed by Narsinhanand.

According to Hindustan Times report, Rizvi “offered milk on the Shiva Linga installed at Dasna Devi temple as part of the ritual” on Monay morning, in the presence of the chief priest Narsinghanand and, “Vedic hymns were chanted as Rizvi quit Islam and entered Hinduism after a yagna.”

This in a way formally seals his association with Narsinghanand who has cultivated an ecosystem of hate, with his followers feeling empowered to spew hate with impunity. As soon as he converted, Tyagi-Rizvi began his anti-Islam speeches reffering to the faith as a “terror cult” among othe things. He told the media that he “chose the holy day of December 6 to convert to Hinduism as on this day, the Babri mosque was demolished in 1992,” and that he “will work for Hinduism from today. The votes of Muslims never go to any party. They only cast their votes to defeat Hindus,” Livehindustan quoted Tyagi-Rizvi.

In March this year, he filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking that “26 verses of the Quran be removed”. According him the Quran, the holy book of Muslims, has “some verses that are used to promote terrorism, violence, jihad”. In an interview to Aaj Tak, Rizvi claimed that these verses were added to the Quran later. This had added fuel to the dangerous anti-Muslim narrative spread by right-wing politicans and influencers. Waseem Rizvi did not enjoy support within the Muslim community itself. He was in fact disowned and boycotted by both the Shia Clergy and laity in the past. He had also produced  ‘Ramjanmbhoomi’, a deeply provocative and communally polarising film in 2018.

Last year, he verbally abused women protesting the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Lucknow calling them “Badkirdaar auratein” or characterless women.

It is interesting to note that in November 2020, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered cases against Waseem Rizvi, for alleged illegal sale, purchase and transfer of Waqf properties in Uttar Pradesh. The state government had ordered a CBI probe in 2019 into the alleged illegal sale and transfer of Waqf properties by the UP Shia Central Waqf Board and UP Sunni Central Waqf Board. Based on the Uttar Pradesh government's recommendation, the central probe agency registered two cases against Rizvi, the former chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board, and others. The CBI invoked charges of cheating, criminal intimidation and breach of trust. Uttar Pradesh Police had registered two First Information Reports (FIRs) against Rizvi and others in Prayagraj and capital Lucknow, in 2016 and 2017 respectively, based on two separate complaints.

Wasim Rizvi releases book full of Islamophobic diatribe

Book launched by none other than Yati Narsinghanand is full of vile allegations against Prophet Mohammed and Islam

15 Nov 2021

Wasim Rizvi, the former chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board, is in the news once again for his deeply communal and Islamophobic diatribe, this time published in his book titled Muhammad, purportedly on the life of the Prophet Mohammed, one of the most revered figures in Islam.

One could have gauged the contents of the book from the book launch ceremony itself where Rizvi was seen in the company of fellow hate offender Yati Narsinghanand. The head priest of the Dasna temple has cultivated quite an ecosystem of hate, with his followers feeling empowered to spew hate with impunity. The Wire, that has examined a copy of the book, reported that Rizvi has virtually attempted to defame Prophet Mohammed as a womaniser and murderer.

Wasim Rizvi is not new to controversy. In the past too he has made multiple attempts to create communal tension.

In September 2017, Rizvi had met Mahant Suresh Das, one of the parties advocating the construction of Ram Temple, to show the UP Shia Waqf Board’s support for the construction of the Ram temple. He had also advocated for the construction of the mosque some distance away from Ramjanmabhoomi in a Muslim neighbourhood. This had helped him score major brownie points from Hindutva leaders and groups. However, the comments were ill timed as the matter was still sub-judice and extremely communally sensitive, especially given the violence surrounding the Babri Masjid demolition in December 1992 and a spate of violence that ensued in its aftermath.

Then in January 2018, Rizvi alleged that country’s madrasas “produced more terrorists than civil servants” in a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Incensed at the accusations made by Rizvi, the Jamiat Ulama-e-Maharashtra, sent a defamation notice to Rizvi. Apart from the Rs 20 crore defamation suit, the notice also demanded Rizvi to submit an unconditional apology.

On March 11, 2021, Rizvi had moved Supreme Court with a plea seeking the “removal” of certain verses from the Quran that according to him “promoted violence.” This prompted the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) to seek an unconditional apology from him for his “highly provocative, objectionable and malicious” statements that the NCM claims, were delivered “with intent to outrage the religious feelings of a particular community and to insult the particular religion.”

Recently while promoting his book, in a viral video interview to right-wing Youtuber Niraj Atri, Rizvi said, “Mohammed declared himself to be a Prophet, and used Allah’s name to share false teachings in a bid to become influential. This influence grew so much that we now see Islamic terrorism threatening the world. The foundation for all this was laid in Arabia 1,400 years ago.”

It is noteworthy that the Shia community and Rizvi’s own family have virtually disowned him. His latest book, is therefore perhaps, a desperate attempt to hold on to the last few shreds of dignity and forge stronger alliances with Hindutva leaders.

Wasim Rizvi releases book full of Islamophobic diatribe

Book launched by none other than Yati Narsinghanand is full of vile allegations against Prophet Mohammed and Islam

Koran, Madrassas and Terrorism

Wasim Rizvi’s motivated understanding of Islam

31 Mar 2021

Wasim Rizvi

Wasim Rizvi, the ex-Chairman of Shia Waqf Board has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Supreme Court. It states that 26 verses of Islam should be deleted as they promote terrorism. He also says that Madrassas are offering training for terrorism, and if not stopped, India will witness a huge rise in terror acts. He is also the one who has made derogatory films against Sunni belief and practices apart from saying that Muslims are reproducing like animals. As far as terrorism in India is concerned, Minister of Home, Krishna Reddy had stated that the sources of terror acts are not in this country.

Incidentally his dealings are being investigated for illegal sale of Waqf property under his chief ship. There is a huge uproar in sections of Muslim community against him, asking for him to be punished; death threats etc. In his support the likes of Kangana Ranaut and Gajendra Chauhan have appreciated him as a true nationalist, while officially BJP has distanced itself from Rizvi’s sayings. His understanding or lack of that about the Koran notwithstanding, the motive to curry favor with the ruling government through such actions is more than obvious. He is adding to the prevalent Islamophobia in a great measure. He is parroting what the propaganda is being spread by communal forces about Muslims’ being terrorists or producing more children. This propaganda has played a serious role in creating Hatred against Muslims and this hatred in turn has formed the base on which communal violence is orchestrated.

As far Muslims producing more children is concerned, serious works of scholarship tell us that poverty and illiteracy and imposed ghettotisation result in higher rates of population growth. There are statistics which tell us that despite the present situation the decadal rate of growth of Muslim population is under decline on continuous basis. (Decadal Growth rate 1991-32.9%, 2001-29.5%, 2011- 24.6%). The prediction is that Muslim population should stabilise around 18% by 2070.

As far as Koran and violence is concerned, Rizvi is rephrasing the global propaganda, post 9/11 2001. One does not know the credentials of Rizvi as an Islamic scholar but the notions popularised by American media in the aftermath of 9/11 are clearly the stuff from which he seems to be picking up to please those in power, to curry favor for his own selfish motives.

In India the scholars of Islam, particularly my late friend Asghar Ali Engineer and renowned scholar Maulana Wahiduddin Khan emphasise the meaning of most of the Koranic verses in their context. According to these scholars the emphasis on peace is prevalent all through in Koran. One example is verse 32 of Chapter 5 which tells us that killing even a single innocent person is like killing the whole humanity. The second being that there cannot be force in matters of religion, to you your faith to me mine. These raise a lot of doubt about the understanding of Rizwi. As per him, these 26 verses are later inserted and are the source of violence. One needs to examine the trajectory of use of words Kafir and Jihad in the late twentieth century. To indoctrinate Al Qaeda elements these words were presented with distorted meaning. This was done in few Madrassas of Pakistan.

In the indoctrination module coordinated and funded by United States (Mahmood Mamdani, Good Muslim Bad Msulim, Permanent Black) tells us from the documents of CIA that Us spent 8000 million dollars to prop up the Al Qaeda. It was part of the strategy of the US to combat Russian forces in Afghanistan, for which America was not able to send its own army. The reason behind that was the low morale of American army due to its defeat at the hands of Vietnamese people.

America in a shrewd operation picked up a sectarian version of Islam and the word kafir and Jihad were given a twist to brainwash the Muslim youth being trained in some madrassas of Pakistan. Word Kafir which means ‘one who hides truth’ was manipulated to mean the ‘non believers’ or even those who disagree with you. Killing them was presented as Jihad. Such jihad in turn would open the path of Jannat when Mujahideen lay down their lives in such acts. The real punch of indoctrination comes at this stage as what was propagated was that those who lay down their lives in Jihad will straight go to Jannat (Muslim equivalent of heaven or Hindu equivalent of Swarga), where 72 virgins are waiting for the Jihadi!)

In Koran, Jihad as such stands for utmost effort. There are many such strivings e.g. fighting against evils within oneself (Jihad-e- Akbar) and social evils (Jihad-e-Asghar). With this distortion and the American funding, Al Qaeda joined the anti Soviet forces, the real aim of America. A Frankenstein’s monster was created by this strategy. After 9/11 twin tower attack the word ‘Islamic terrorism’ was popularized and Muslims all over started being looked at as terrorists. It became a ‘thinkable thought’ that Muslim is a terrorist. It was manufactured by US media and the other media picked up from that.

Many started labeling Madrassas in general as the dens of terror. In India we saw particularly between 2006 to 2008 that after every act of terror, like Malegaon, Makkah Masjid, Ajmer Dargah and Samjhauta Express blast while most victims were Muslims, those who were accused for such acts were Muslims again. This went on till Malegaon blast in which the Maharashtra ATS Chief Hemant Karkare came across the motorcycle used in Malegaon blast belonging to Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, ABVP leader, currently BJP MP from Bhopal.

Popular perceptions are constructed through multiple mechanisms and today what Rizvi is saying is music to the years of communal forces, who have been actively promoting such propaganda at ground level. This propaganda adds on to the other myths and biases against Muslim community and intensity of Hate in society goes up few notches up due to such a misconceptions.

Now Rizvi, under the scrutiny for illegal sale of Waqf property is mouthing it in various forms. Scholarship of Koran and Islam is not what is leading him to this fallacy. Hope we have more efforts to combat the narrative created by Imperialist forces and further promoted by communal forces.

Withdraw comments against Quran, apologise: National Commission for Minorities tells Waseem Rizvi

NCM issued notice to the former Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board chairman for his plea to Supreme Court seeking ‘removal’ of some verses from the Quran

16 Mar 2021

Wasim Rizvi

The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) has sought an unconditional apology from the former Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi for his derogatory comments against the Quran. Rizvi, had recently moved the Supreme Court with a plea seeking the “removal” of certain verses from the Quran that according to him “promoted violence.” The Commission has issued a notice to Rizvi telling him to withdraw his comments and tender an “unconditional apology” within 21 days. The NCM stated: "The comments given in the media by you about deletion of certain verses from the Quran are "highly provocative, objectionable and malicious, prejudicial to maintenance of peace and harmony, with intent to outrage the religious feelings of a particular community and to insult the particular religion." The NCM has observed that Rizvi’s remarks appear to be a well-thought conspiracy to disturb the communal harmony of the country, stated news reports.

If Rizvi fails to comply, the NCM has stated that it will hold a hearing and direct the  authorities to take legal action against him: "The NCM directs you to withdraw your comments and tender an unconditional apology within 21 days, failing which the Commission will be constrained to hold a hearing under Section 9 of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992 and direct appropriate authorities to take legal action as deemed fit.” The Commission took cognisance of the matter following the complaints received from four persons- Abdul Majid Nizami, Ali Raza Zaidi, Mohd Faizan Chaudhary and Maulana Syed Nazar Abbas.

On March 11, Waseem Rizvi, the former Chairman of the Shia Waqf Board, filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking that “26 verses of the Quran be removed”. According to news reports, Rizvi in his petition, has stated that the Quran, the holy book of Muslims, has “some verses that are used to promote terrorism, violence, jihad”. In an interview with Aaj Tak, Rizvi claimed that these verses were added to the Quran later. Rizvi, who is known to be close to the right wing politicians, told the news channel that these “verses were added to the Quran, by the first three Caliphs, to aid the expansion of Islam by war.”

His family has disowned him years ago for his conduct, said his younger brother Zaheer Rizvi, “He (Waseem Rizvi) has gone mad. Neither I, nor my sister or my mother have anything to do with him anymore”.

According to Siasat daily an FIR under IPC sections 295A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 153A (Promoting the enmity between different groups on the ground of religion) has been registered against Waseem Rizvi in Charminar police station and an investigation is underway. However, Rizvi remains unrepentant, stated the news report citing a video statement he purportedly released on some social media platforms. He us reported to have said that he would “not go back on his plea with the Supreme Court on deleting 26 verses of the Holy Quran” adding “I have four friends who may not agree with on my stand the 26 verses of the Quran, but would come forward to lay me down in the grave,” to suggest he did not care if his own family had disowned him. According to the Siasat Daily news report, Rizvi said that he would “prefer to kill himself but not budge from his position on the verses.”

Modi Yogi’s UP Shia Waqf Board Chief in the dock for Controversial Ayodhya Film

24 Nov 2018

The trailer of Ramjanmbhoomi, a deeply provocative and communally polarising film, is out and it has caused an outrage! Who owns Cinecraft Productions that made the film “Ram Janmbhoomi” is as pertinent a question as who funded the film? Also, what is the purpose of making such a film in the first place?

Meet the Maker

Syed Waseem Rizvi, who claims to be the writer and producer of the film, is actually the Chief of the UP Shia Waqf Board. It is alleged that Waseem Rizvi, handpicked by the saffron regime, is a clear tool in their hands. Interestingly, Rizvi claims that the film is shot in Ayodhya. Question is, who gave permission for the shoot? To top it all controversial RSS leader, Indresh Kumar is featured as a ‘Hindu leader’!

Desperate in the face of rising opposition, a sinister game plan is afoot to use the UP Shia Waqf Board chief, Syed Waseem Rizvi as the chief generator of Shia-Sunni conflict using the Ram Mandir and Ayodhya. The trailer and poster of the film, ‘Ramjanmabhoomi’ scripted by Rizvi was ‘released’ last Monday, and has already generated its share of intra-community tensions. Almost all senior Sunni and Shia leaders of India have officially condemned this trailer and have asked the govt to stop this hate film. They have also petitioned the govt demanding that a criminal case be filed against Waseem Rizvi.

We at cjp.org.in delved deep into this controversial, even hate-filled trailer that has already generated tensions. A criminal case has already been filed against it in Mumbai.

What does an analysis of the trailer reveal?
This trailer is about actual incidents of 1990 when kar sevaks were shot at by the UP police when they attempted to break the law in force. However, the narrative has been twisted a la the narrative of the VHP-RSS (sangh) that only depicts ‘peaceful Hindutva kar sevaks’. Worse, these scenes are interjected by fabrications and falsehoods, the absolutely false propaganda of ‘Muslims provocating the Hindutva people.’ Thereafter a series of incidents of violence depict violence by Muslims against Hindus. There is also a snide reference to the police who are conspiring with Netaji (1990 chief minister, Mulayam Singh).

This trailer is a complete short film in itself, there is nothing more left to understand.
Sign boards of the Shia Waqf Board are strategically placed within it. The Shia Waqf Board chief Waseem Rizvi is also ‘acting’ in the trailer. Controversial RSS leader Indresh Kumar who was charge sheeted in the Ajmer Blast case also has a guest appearance as a part of a television news show within the film.

There is a titillating and caricatured ‘villain’ in the short film, Jaffar Khan who is not only shown as a terrorist but a Shariya Board member who drinks alcohol and commits Halala (having a relationship with his own daughter in law). There are scenes of Muslim men shown lynching ‘innocent Hindutva kar sevaks.’ The setting is also sinister: popular ‘Muslim’ icons and flags often depicted during festivities are shown as the backdrop for the aggression of violent ‘Muslim mobs.’

Hate and Incitement in Waseem Rizvi’s Film
The most controversial scene planted within the film is clearly aimed at dividing Muslims along the Shia vs Sunni sectarian divide. Waseem Rizvi is sitting across the table and uses objectionable words derogatory to the Khalifa and founder of the Umaiyyad dynasty, respected by many Sunni Muslims.

(Note: We are not using the words here as they are both inciteful and provocative. This anti Sunni statement by a Shia character in the film who is the Chairman of UP Shia Waqf board in real life is undoubtedly depicted with intent to instigate Shia vs Sunni conflict in India).

What readers must note that this has been part of a not so hidden strategy of the BJP-led Sangh Parivar. Recall September 14, 2017 when BJP leader Subramanian Swamy called for uniting Hindus, creating division among Muslims

Media fans the flames:
Rabid mainstream channels like Times Now are fanning the controversy while websites with a clear Hindutva bent are actively promoting it.

Who and what is Cinecraft Productions?

One, this film is produced by Cinecraft Productions which has only two videos on their Youtube channel. The first is this trailer and the second is their showreel, which is of an extremely unprofessional poor quality. Significantly, the showreel shows that Cinecraft Products has also made films for the government of Uttar Pradesh. Only two videos can be found on youtube by Cinecraft both posted on November 18, 2018 this also includes videos made for the Govt of Uttar Pradesh on Asha Bahu before the Ramjanmabhoomi film was made.

Description of the movie Ram Janmbhumi on youtube channel

Hindi Movie "Ram Janmbhumi" ( राम जन्मभूमि ) written & produced by Waseem Rizvi (Chairman of Shia Waqf chief, Uttar Pradesh) The movie deals with issue of Ram Janmbhumi & Halala. Produced under the banner of Cinecraft Productions and Directed by Sanoj Mishra film Ram Janmbhumi stars Actor Manoj Joshi, Govind Namdeo, Najnin Patni, Rajveer Singh, Disha Sachdeva and Aditya in important role. The film poster is quite intriguing as there is a saffron flag on the top of the dome of Babari Masjid.the poster will sure make the headlines inthe media in coming days. The movie is all set to hit in screen in the end of December 2018.

Who is Indresh Kumar?
RSS leader Indresh Kumar, apart from being charge sheeted in the Ajmer blasts case is an active pro-Israel and pro-US leader. Reports have shown that he and 75 others have participated in the Haifa centenary celebrations in Israel. Today, Indresh is a national executive member and the Sahprachar Pramukh in the RSS. His name cropped first when Malegaon blasts prime accused Colonel Shrikant Purohit mentioned him during interrogation.

Both Waseem Rizvi and Indresh Kumar appear to enjoy a special relationship. Since June July this year on social media, Waseem Rizvi, Shia Waqf Board, has been openly supportive of Indresh Kumar’s stand saying, “Muslims should stop eating beef. Killing of cows should stop. Meat of cows is 'haram' in Islam as well. You can't stop mob lynching, security can't be deployed everywhere. So a law should be made awarding strict punishment to those killing cows.” There is more. “I think Indresh Ji's statement has a point. Religious sentiments should not be hurt. If law is made to stop killing of cows, lynching will stop. You can't kill someone who is given the status of mother by a community,” Rizvi added.

Modi Yogi’s UP Shia Waqf Board Chief in the dock for Controversial Ayodhya Film

Jamiat slaps Rs 20 crore defamation suit against UP Shia Waqf Board Chairman Waseem Rizvi

13 Jan 2018
Waseem Rizvi’s controversial remarks against madrasas in the country have now landed him in potential trouble. Rizvi, who is the chairman of Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board, had said that the country’s madrasas ‘produced more terrorists than civil servants’ in a letter addressed to the Indian Prime Minister and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on January 8.

Incensed at the accusations made by Rizvi, Mustaqeem Ahsan Azmi, president, Jamiat Ulama-e-Maharashtra, has sent a defamation notice to Rizvi. “You have issued a statement which is not only completely false and incorrect but also disparages all the madrasas in the Country,” says the legal notice sent by the appellant’s lawyer Shahid Nadeem, a Malegaon-based lawyer practising in the Bombay High Court.

The notice further reads, “The said statement is nothing but a malicious attempt to cause damage to the reputation of the Madrasas being run by the Sunni Community in the Country, which would in turn fuel the ideological differences between the Shia and Sunni Community.”

In the letter, Rizvi made an arbitrary claim that the students studying in madrasas in the country cannot become anything but a terrorist. Rizvi said that the Madrasas produce “more terrorists than civil servants”. He further stated that “Our madrasa education system has failed to produce doctors, engineers and civil servants but some Madrasas have certainly produced terrorists.”

“The statement made by you adversely affects the reputation of the innocent children who study in Madrasas all over the country, by branding Madrasas as a place where terrorists are bred Keeping aside the children, these statements made by you also adversely affect the reputation of the teachers who teach in Madrasas all over the country,” said the notice further. “The bald allegations made by you cast serious aspersions on the character of the teachers who teach in such Madrasas and slanders their professional integrity and honour.”

Leading media outlets of the country gave voice to the statement made by Rizvi, who recently rose to fame after Shia Central Waqf Board came into the action soon Yogi Adityanath took charge as the UP’s chief minister. Rizvi is famous for projecting Shia Waqf Board as one of the parties in Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi demolition case, and alleging the Sunni Waqf Board holds no rights to the disputed land in Ayodhya.

The notice further said, “Many of the Madrasas being run in this country cater to the poorest members of the Muslim community and many of them operate as orphanages, providing shelter, food and education to the orphans. However, ever since the letter sent by you has been published, these Madrasas have been harangued by messages, calls and communications, expressing disgust, contempt and questioning their working and such Madrasas, which are tirelessly working for the downtrodden in the community, have for no fault of their own become victims of ridicule and contempt.”

Apart from the Rs 20 crore defamation suit, the notice also demanded Rizvi to submit an unconditional apology. Rizvi’s comment has caused an outrage among Muslims. The statement also must be seen in the light of various attempts on the part of the UP government, which Rizvi supports, to interfere in the matters of the state madrasas. Recently, the UP government slashed Eid and Muharram holidays from the madrasa school boards and added Hindu festivals like Diwali. Earlier, it had mandated the state madrasas to record Independence Day celebrations.
