Three Election Officials Die while on Duty, Ex-Gratia of Rs. 15 Lakh for Kin of Each Deceased, Himachal Pradesh

Shimla: In an unfortunate incident, three polling officials in Himachal Pradesh (HP) died while on duty. Reportedly, Election Commission (EC) has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 15 lakh each for the kin of the deceased.

As reported in the ANI, the deceased include presiding officer Vineet Kumar who was a Post Graduate teacher at a government senior school at Sapri in tribal Kinnaur district, homeguard jawan Devi Singh, a resident of Chandera village in Arki Tehsil of Solan district and polling officer Lot Ram, a junior technician and resident of Sajla village in Manali tehsil of Kullu district.

All three died due to different ailments.

Chief Minister of HP, Jai Ram Thakur, has expressed grief over the death of three election officials deployed on election duty for the 2019 general elections.
