The story is simple, searching and the performance of Joy Sengupta riveting. From his arrival to Mumbai after a long train journey, an elaborate journey down Mumbai’s roads and streets turns from the buoyancy of coming home and bakery shopping on the way to a stunning even chilly hostility as the taxi driver suddenly realises which mohalla he is being asked to drive into! A tense stand off is nail biting until persistence gives, but by then the joy of home coming has been soured down. By the corrosive stench of a creeping hate.
“Our first festival in India brings the film closer to the audience it is meant to reach. It is part of a work-in-progress anthology of four shorts centred around the idea of prejudice inherent to Indian society.
“This is its second selection at a festival of independent films.
“A big shout out to all the collaborators.
