A young Muslim lost his life after he was assaulted by an angry mob in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur district. The incident that unfolded on the outskirts of Luhari village where the 25-year-old Muslim man, Irshad Mohammed, had a bike accident following which he received a brutal assault by an angry mob on the festive night of Dussehra. The group that beat the man post his accident had been participating in Dussehra festivities, according to Indian Express. An FIR has been reportedly filed in the police station at Bahadurgarh and police have said they have identified 5 of the attackers that they will arrest soon.
The incident took place on last Tuesday night and led to a tense, charged atmosphere within the village due to which police forces had to be deployed pre-emptively. According to journalist Lokesh Rai, police force from 5 police stations has been deployed there.

According to the police report, the incident took place around 7:30 pm on Tuesday as Irshad Mohammad was making his way back to Luhari village on his motorcycle. While going by the Ramlila Maidan, he reportedly had accidentally struck a man who had been taking part in the festival.
What initially appeared as a minor accident soon turned into a verbal argument and then following this, descended into violence when a group of men attacked and beat Irshad Mohammad, causing him reportedly to fall and suffer a seemingly fatal head injury as he collided with a stone. He was rushed to the local hospital by the police, whereupon he was declared dead upon arrival.
The news of Mohammad’s death triggered a rush of his family and local residents to the scene and reportedly led to clashes between the two groups. Village elders took immediate action by contacting the Bahadurgarh police station. Law enforcement responded by employing mild force to disperse the agitated members from both communities.
Hapur Superintendent of Police Abhishek Verma stated they received information of a man named Irshad Mohammed lying injured, following which they took him to the hospital. The police has as of now identified five people who beat Irshad Mohammed and has been lodged at the Bahadurgarh police station. The superintendent has also said that they are currently questioning some of the suspects who are in custody.
