The chaotic effects of demonetisation are being felt across the country. Among the most tragic, is Firozabad’s bangle industry. Firozabad is the largest producer of bangles in the world. With an annual turnover of about Rs. 1,200 crores and employing over 2.5 lakh workers, the bangle production there is down by 90%. It is estimated that it would take at least a year and half to recover from this setback.
