These elections have been peculiar because BJP, the party which has been ruling MCD for the past 10 years, has campaigned as the party in opposition. The narrative of this election was created as if this the time to evaluate AAP’s work and not BJP’s. The narrative seems to have worked. But there are other outcomes which needs to be considered as well such as a significant increase in Congress’ vote share. This analysis puts the elections results in a larger context of Indian electoral politics.
