The Drought has five names

In 2019, Marathwada saw one of its worst droughts in fifty years. Even for a rain shadow, drought prone area, all past record were broken. Waters in the Jayakwadi dam, the largest in the region, ran so low that stone temples and dargah submerged decades ago, resurfaced.

Sabrang India tries to tell the story of a devastating drought through stories of ordinary people – a politician worried about creeping desertification, a young man unable to find a match, small hamlets populated by only very young and very old and a village that has emerged from water like memory.
