Wardha: RSS worker attacked inside bus, traders allegedly call for bandh

A senior RSS functionary, Jethanand Rajput, traveling by MSRTC bus on Sunday was beaten up for intervening in a fight in Wardha.

Rajput was beaten up by some men ‘belonging to another community’ and a bandh was called in Hinganghat and Wardha city and shops were shut on Monday. Rajput told Times of India that the bandh as called by Bohra community and other trade associations followed suit. Rajput said it was not a communal issue and that he was beaten up after he intervened between two quarrelling families on the bus. Rajput was dragged out of the bus by some men and was beaten up. He somehow managed to get away.

Wardha SP Noorul Hasan told TOI that they have arrested one accused and detained 5 other kin from within the family and said that the accused, an engineer, did not know that Rajput was from RSS. The accused has been booked under sections 326 and 143, 144, 145, 147, 148, 109 of IPC, reported ABP News.
