“Will spill blood”: BJP MLA Ramkhelawan Patel on arrest of another BJP member

Ramnagar: In what could be a total rebuff of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s warning to its party members, a BJP legislator from Amarpatan assembly seat in Madhya Pradesh (MP), Ramkhelawan Patel, demanded the release of BJP Panchayat President Ram Sushil Patel and threatened to spill blood for his release.

As reported in the NDTV, Ram Sushil Patel was arrested after he and his supporters allegedly attacked the chief municipal officer of a civic body, Devratan Soni, during a public meeting in Ramnagar in Satna district, MP on June 28, leaving him critically injured.

“Mai aap logon ko vachan dena chahta hoon ki Ram Sushil Patel ko hum log Jail se bahar le aayenge, aur unko churane ke liye BJP ko agar apna khoon bhi bahana padega toh khoon bhi bahane ka kaam karenge (I assure you that we’ll get Ram Sushil Patel released from jail even if the BJP has to spill its blood, we’ll spill blood also for his release from jail),” Ramkhelawan Patel said.

Notably, just a few days back Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted the first group of BJP lawmakers at his residence where he expressed his disapproval of the conduct of BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya who was seen thrashing a municipal officer with a cricket bat over a scuffle. “If we have to lose an MLA, so be it. We have to set an example to prevent a repeat,” PM Modi reportedly told lawmakers. “Whoever it may be, whoever’s son he may be, such arrogance, misbehavior cannot be tolerated and action should be taken against them,” the Prime Minister said, referring to what he called the “Indore incident.”

As per the latest developments, Amarpatan court has rejected the bail application of Ram Sushil Patel and has sent him to judicial custody. Patel has alleged that he was also beaten by the civic officer and the police are now examining the CCTV footage to verify the claims.

The BJP Madhya Pradesh unit has lately been under the scanner over the misconduct of its members and the warnings by the PM himself doesn’t seem to be of any effect. Stringent actions against such members, who threaten and sometimes do take law into their own hands, is a must.
